I cannot tell you where this is, but it is a sign that should be used more often. One of the most frustrating things is trying to pass someone who persists in driving in the Passing Lane.

The Right Hand Lanes are for Driving - not Passing. The Left Lane is for Passing Only (yes, there are occasional exceptions).

And, who are the greatest offenders? Take a guess; Gender is the clue.

In western Europe, almost nobody drives in the Passing Lane - especially in Germany.

I couldn't agree more. I have been frustrated many times about slow drivers in the passing lane. In my little corner of the world it has gotten so bad that if I truly am in a hurry I stay in the right hand lane. My blood pressure in those instances drops dramatically. The best I've seen was passing thirty one cars going through a small town during rush hour. Traffic light there tends to back them up. I get in the right hand lane and usually make it to within one or two cars of the light. Look in my side view mirror and have trouble seeing the last car in line in the passing lane. Just can't help but chuckle.

P.S. With a magnifying glass I read the ones to the left & right of the center sign, and together they really make sense.

Again, these signs should be in many places on the I-System and U.S. Highways.

P.P.S. A slightly wider lens might have put all three signs in better focus.

Ideas? Yes, get rid of it as being a possible distraction from concentration on the road.

but I80 west of Lincoln, when the limit goes to 75, runs about 72... go figure...

 Not when we're driving there. More like 82-84.

(West of Lincoln the traffic is usually pretty free flowing)

I really wish we could have signs like that as our Oregon freeway system could honestly use them. Great stuff Jerry.

My German cousin once told me a long time ago as we were driving there that the law was the following when driving on the Autobahn:

1. Unless passing, you must stay right.

2. If you flash your lights or tailgate someone violating number 1 (called "draengen" in German), you are also violating the law, and the penalty is greater than violating 1.

3. If you pass a violator of #1 on the right it is also against the law, and the penalty is greater than violation #2.

Possible Distraction ??? Are you serious ???

Or are you one of those people who believe it's your Dog given right to cruise obliviously in the Passing Lane?

We need more roadway instruction for people who don't know how or where to drive. And, we need better driving instructions to start with. And, periodic road testing for all women and old buggers (people over 70 like me).

Very Well Stated, and driving rules as they should be.

According to Google Earth, that is clearly correct. Thanks. It also verifies the Photoshop theory.

I will be near there Sat morning driving over to Middletown. If the snow is not blinding me, I will keep an eye out.

I'll bet the signs are that rare example of state officials thinking ahead towards the day when autonomous vehicles will be the rule and not an exception. Autonomous vehicular traffic will need to be more orderly than the fairly random behavior of lane hogs. Of course, then autonomous vehicles will have to learn to read also.
