Holy smokes! Anyone thinking about buying a Sony A6000 but put it off, is out of luck. Best Buy just hiked their price for the A6000 with the 2 kit lens by $200.00. It is now $899.00!! Don't know what's going on, whether the lower price was just for the holidays or Sony saw how popular the camera has become and decided to cash in on it, or what. I was thinking about getting one, but to put it off for awhile. I may have to rethink that one.

Most Nikons went up $100+ Jan 1.

The holidays are over! Prices go up and down, though.

When I got my A6000 in December of 2014, at Best Buy, I paid $599.00 for the camera with the 16-50 kit lens, plus the 55-210 zoom lens for $149, for a total of $749.98. The 55-210 was so cheap because I noticed a flier up that said they would knock $150.00 off the price of another lens if it was bundled with the camera and lens kit. That was probably also a holiday season special back then, too. Sure wish I hadn't sold that camera.

36 mp hmmm, I wonder if that may indicate a FF camera. Guess we will have to wait and see.

Heyjoe, I have the D7100 and picked up the A6000 at Costco over the holidays for 699 with two lenses, although the prime was the 18-55 instead of the 16-50 with the other being the standard 55-210 kit Tele. So far I am having fun learning it. ISO in low light is slightly better than the D7100 and not anywhere nearly as heavy, I wanted something light that did not cause pain when out with it for hours. The D71000 is a 24 MP crop with a Nikon sensor and the A6000 is a Sony sensor with a 24 MP crop. The only con so far is the Sony lenses are limited in number and quality. I do have a Zeiss Touit 32/1.8 on the truck so we shall see what it can really do. BTW I am keeping the D7100.

There was a special that ended. Sonyalpharumors.com warned for days that the prices would go back up after the 1st of January. I think that the $899 price is close to the normal suggested retail for the two lens kit. A6000 + 16-50 + 55-210 kit.

I bought my SonyA6000 in the summer of 2015. I got the body, two lens, camera bag and an 8gb SanDisk card for $800 from B&H. Looks like I got a good deal.

Same here. I opted for two Sigma prime art lenses over the kit lenses. $796 total shipped. So far I like it. My other cameras and lenses are Canons.

I have an old Canon FD 35-70 3.5-4.5 zoom in nice shape, given to me a while back, and I have a Sony adapter for it on a boat coming from China. It will be full manual aperture and focus but from what I have read it works pretty well on the Sony and you can't beat the price.

Ditto. I don't understand it but I checked Amazon, B&H and Adorama on the A6000 on Friday. Also checked Sony. They all had a body only for $398. I decided to ponder before flipping the switch. On Saturday night, I went to each of them again and they had all gone up $150, except Amazon. So Amazon got the business.

I took one of these to Europeand got great photos, but did not like a couple things; especially the microphone connection. The new a7000 should be out in February and if it has a 3.5mm mic jack I'm going to go that way. This will give me two bodies and interchangeable lenses. I do wish it had dual sdcard slots but I doubt it.

I'm going to be putting my Nikon D7000, which I have recovered from my daughter, up for sale and "loaning" her my D7100 instead. I'm also going to be selling my Fuji X-e1 at a bargain price. (Nothing wrong, but it would be surplus to my need.)

Do you have any Fuji lenses you want to sell? Looking for some to use with an X-T1

Would not consider paying that with sales history of this product. I just checked Amazon. They had a limited supply of body with the 16-50 kit lens for $548 - exactly what I paid a year ago from B&H ($598 with $50 gift card). I think right now I would wait to see what the 6100 looks like. I thought I read that beside the increase in MP, it may have in-camera stabilization. It's gonna be interesting.

I must have just gotten in on Amazon. I just checked their price this minute and it is back up to $548, body only. When I bought the previous one, I really didn't like either of the kit lenses. Sold them both and then received a 18-200 lens from a friend in Japan. So this time I just bought that lens. I was tempted by the tamron, but used my experience with the Sony to get that.

I did noticed during the holiday pricing Sony had an instant rebate on B&H for cameras and lenses and so assume that was the cost reason for sales on the other sites--since they were basically the same. Sony has ended the rebates as of Jan. 2. Sony is controlling the cost of the product and sales were offered when company rebates are available. So if price is a concern people will have to wait until the next rebate/sale.

On that note, I am wondering what the price of the A6100/A700 will be when released in March.

I believe Costco has it with 2 lenses for $850. I bought it there a few months ago and have not used my D800 since. What a great camera for the price.

Just checked the website and it shows $899 after $350 rebate.

I'm not shocked. It was recommended to me by someone who studies cameras and knew I might like it. I got mine with both kit lenses for $599, but I think this video spurred on the popularity of this camera.

.

New reality: pre-Christmas sales are better than post-holiday. (or "You snooze, you lose.") I bought the 2-lens kit for $699 but returned it to Best Buy because I didn't like the very slow 16-50 kit lens. Found a deal on Amazon for the body and 55-210 for $550 and added a Zeiss Touit 32mm 1.8. (It also was $120 cheaper last week than it is today.)

The fast prime worked great for my wife getting shots of the little ones opening presents on Christmas morning. (Remember the Kodak ads touting "open me first"?)

So far, we are quite impressed with this little camera.

I blew it too tho, on a little Olympus TD-4 waterproof camera that Best Buy had for $200 and is now back to $350.
