Seems the manufacturers, for the most part, anyway, all have special holiday pricing to entice buyers. Since I'm not in the position to actually purchase the new camera until sometime this spring, I can afford to wait and see what the prices do, and if the new A6100/7000 turns out to be affordable and if it what I am looking for. We, the consumer, are at the mercy of the market.

Very true, but there is a silver lining in every cloud. If you are willing to look at entry to mid level DSLRs, there are great deals to be had. Sales of these models seem to be losing out to mirrorless cameras like the Sony A6000, as well as large sensor compacts and bridge cameras
