I enjoy traveling, myself, and I can very strongly recommend the New Nikon P900 Camera, it has a super zoom that goes to 2000 MM and a 2.8 VR lens that will give you beautiful photos....and is easy to carry.....its what I"m taking along on my upcoming Cruise vacation...problem is, its hard to find, as its very popular, and very much in demand...

I am planning to do a lot of traveling. I have a Nikon D60 DSLR. It is a pain to carry it around with the kit lenses. Can anybody recommend a good superzoom bridge camera? I have been looking at the Panasonic LUMIX FZ1000cp camera. Does anybody know anything about it? I would appreciate any feedback. I like the Nikon and can get really good pictures with it but it is bulky for travel.
Thanks

Bridge camera not materially more convenient than an DSLR.
Sony RX100 III can take fine pics without making you look like an obtrusive mobile camera shop.
If you must have 'reach' try a Sony HX90V.

Hasselblad's "Stellar" camera for $895 is a great camera. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1133754-REG/hasselblad_h_3012645_stellar_digital_camera_zebra.html

What type of photos, wildlife, street, family, ect. I use a D7100 & SX50 as I take wildlife. I love both cameras, they do well for my use.

There are a lot of good bridge cameras. Consider the Nikon P610 and P530, the Canon SX50 and SX60, The Panasonic FZ70 and FZ200, the Sony HV400, and the Fujifilm S1. Between them my first choice would be the Panasonic FZ200 because of the maximum f/2.8 aperture at all focal lengths.

I think a better alternative is an all-in-one lens for your D60. A lens like the Sigma 18-200 Macro or Sigma 18-250 Macro on a lightweight body like a D60 would not weigh very much, and I think it would be better than a bridge camera with its small sensor. Also you can use it if you upgrade your D60 in the future.

I have the new Canon SX60. It's great. In camera HDR. 65X. Hot shoe to boost flash. 21mm wide. Excellent video at 60fps and slo-mo at 240. Stereo mic input for lavaliers.

The camera's mentioned are all wonderful in their own right. But one thing you might want to consider. If the P&S is going to be the only camera on a traveling schedule, you might want to be sure you get an adequate zoom. My personal preference would be to have a camera with at least a 50x optical zoom for traveling situations. Just a thought.

I have the Lumix FZ1000 and just used it last week on a Mediterranean cruise. I took my Nikon D750 with the 28-300mm as my "walk around" camera, but we went on a biking tour of Palma de Mallorca and I wasn't about to take that heavy D750 rig. I took the Lumix specifically for that biking tour and was able to shoot with one hand while biking through the streets. The shots were surprisingly clear and sharp, the color was awesome, and I am VERY happy with them. Are they as good as my FF? No, but that wasn't my expectation. Are they good enough to make me happy? Absolutely. The Lumix is a great camera with a terrific zoom and I don't think you'd be disappointed.

It's f2.8 at the wide end of the zoom only. Really it's f2.8 - f6.5.

I've got a 13x19 printer and I built a gallery like display wall with lighting and frames. I have no plans for 36 wide, but enjoy using the available resolution for cropping.

Like bsprague, I too use the Panasonic GX7 with the 14-140mm lens plus the 20mm 1.7 on a GX1 for backup, and the 14mm 2.5 for more deliberate shots. Spare cards and batteries (especially for the GX7) all fit in a small Domke shoulder bag. The small tripod was never used as the low light capabilities continue to impress me although I have yet to use a long exposure that would require the tripod. Both cameras are similar enough to my wife's LX3 for times when she neglects to inform me that her battery needs recharging and she is without power.

Canon---Nikon---bs: get a real pro: OLYMPUS SP-820 with a 40X zoom, which I have and USE; there is new model with a 50X zoom; I don't own one, so will not comment; the 820 weighs maybe 2 lbs and has a plethora of auto programs.
GO OLY !

The Lumix is a good camera for what you want. If you do not mind shooting JPEG, I like the Sony RX10 better. Zeiss 24-200mm f2.8 equiv. and with the Sony clear Image zoom extends to 400mm.equiv. Also has a metal weather sealed body. Does many more things that Sony is noted for like in camera sweep panos and multi image HDR - again, jpeg only.

For travel my solution was to dedicate my old D200 for that with a single lens mounted on it, a Nikon 18-300 zoom. That lens isn't a prime but it's good enough for travel pictures negating the need to carry anything else other than a charger.

What I'm also thinking about is the new Nikon p900. That goes from very wide to awesomely narrow which addresses all travel needs too. It's less bulky that the D200 and lens and lighter too. Btu at the moment I'm not ready to offer a judgement, I'm still learning the camera.

I do not think you can go wrong with the SONY a6000, has a APC, sensor and can use Zeiss lenses and the price is right.
Check it out.
