Great shot Tread, blown away that you got that much detail at F5.6. For me I like a higher F stop with birds, but that is me. Very well done!

Thanks for explaining your process for capturing a shot like this. I think it's invaluable for those people who seem to think the only way to get a beautiful photograph like yours, is by using PP software.
Double-Kudos for doing it 99.9% in-camera and not resorting to extensive PP!

Beautiful shot!. I spent the day in the Viera Wetlands which was loaded with excellent material - I have some I could share but not as good as yours. I'll post later and maybe you could give me some tips. I think you'd love the venue for shooting.

Fantastic explanation...I learned so much. Just wondering...did you stack twigs so the flight path would be repeated? ;)

Not only a great shot, but I learned more from reading your post than I did on a photo safari and in the first 6 weeks of a photo class! I am new at this hobby & only shoot animals & birds and you cleared up some issues I was having with my shots. Terrific post!!!!! Bless you and my most humble thanks.

As others have said, a fine shot. My own preference would be that it's a bit too formal. More exciting would have been some motion blur in the wings (assuming it wasn't gliding of course) and/or motion blur of the background.

But great info on proper preparation and patience.

Wow, great photo! I think all the prep work and effort you put into it have paid off - kind of makes me feel quite lazy.

I love all the different opinions---for me it came out just the way I wanted it to. I could have blurred the background by panning---I didn't want to. If you noted all the prep I did for the shot I think it is clear that I got want I wanted.

:)

Maybe next time I will blur it---maybe not.
