I recently moved from a crop sensor to a refurbished D610 from B&H and am loving it! You might look into a refurbed D750 to save a little for more glass. Here is a shot with my D610 I took this morning, even with the heavy cropping, these FF cameras are amazing. I don't have any glass suggestions, I like the fixed focal lengths and don't have much experience with the FF zooms.

That is a great shot. I am really looking forward to a FF. Thanks.

I recently purchased a D750 (I still have a D7100) and I love it. I purchased it with the 24-120 Kit, and that is a great lens. I also have the 70-200 f/2.8 lens. Also a great lens.

Then I purchased the Nikon 28-300 f/3/5-5.6 and now that lens rarely leaves my camera. I love the wide zoom range.

And with the d750, a few times I have bumped the ISO up to 128,000 (last ISO before the extended range) and the images are totally usable. When I look at the images in Lightroom (pixel peeking at 100%) there is very low noise.

I hope my experience gives you some ideas. Good luck and keep shooting.

Thank you. 28-300 might well be the third lens I will buy. On the D7000 I can hardly go beyond ISO 3200. Question is with such a good ISO performance on the d750, is there still a need for f2.8?

The ISO will handle the low light, the f/2.8 helps when you want a very shallow Depth of Field (DOF). So if you are looking for shallow DOF, then you need an f/2.8.
Otherwise the 28-300 is an ideal lens for the D750.

The photo below was shot at ISO 12800 (f/5.3 at 1/500). I left all the noise in, which you need to go to 100% to find.

If you have a lot of DX glass that you are happy with and really know how to use you may want to only upgrade your camera to a newer DX, like a D7100 or D7200.

For FF FX, a D750, D810, or even D610 would be a nice body.

And the Df, how could I forget. It is so damn cute!

I have a Nikon D7000 for 4 years. All DX lenses except Tamron 150-600. Just got wife-approved budget of $5000 for a FF system. Looking for suggestions.

My current thoughts:
D750 with 24-120 F4 $2700
Nikon 70-200 F4 $1400
Maybe a refurbished lens for the remaining $900?

I like the Nikon D750. It's excellent value for money. Look at reviews.

Indeed, unless you want to burn money I see no reasons to "upgrade."
In the first place, except for the Tamron all your lenses are DX and you have an excellent camera in the D7000. You do not have a specific reason for the switch either on account of the subjects that you usually shoot.
I would use the money for something else.

Perfect! Spend the $900 towards the new 300 mm F4 or the 16-35 F4. Love love love the 24-120 F4. My go to lens.

Anyone who suggests that you need 36MP for your kind of photography is just trying to project their own goals onto you. More is not always better. Besides, to properly take advantage of such high resolution you will be tempted to get more expensive prime lenses like the Zeiss Otus 55mm 1.4 at about $4,000 (the lens hood alone is over $300). I don't think you need to make such an expensive commitment.

The D750 and D610 have more than enough resolution - 24 MP is plenty. Even the Df at 16 MP is a very attractive option since it takes a lot of excellent older Nikon lenses.

I have a D750 and would not trade it for any other camera. You might want to consider an ultra-wide for street shooting. I can highly recommend the Nikon 16-35 f4. I have no experience with the 14-24 but I know it is a great lens but about $600 additional over the 16-35 and it doesn't take conventional filters. For 'artsy' street shots a 16mm f2.8 fisheye is a lot of fun. You may not use it all the time but it is definately worth adding to your arsenal. Adorama & B&H both occasionally have them refurbished.

The D610 and D750 both have 24.3 mpx sensors but the D610 is $500 less. The D750 is a fine camera, my question is are the mostly incremental improvements of the D750 worth $500 for your type of shooting or would that money be better spent on more/better glass? Do you need a faster processor, 0.5 FPS improvement in continuous shooting, tilt monitor, 1 F stop faster ISO and more focus points for what you prefer to do?

For street/scenery I'd suggest looking at the Nikon 17-35mm f/2.8; used they are running $800-$900 and make a great street/cityscape/landscape lens.

I have a D700 24-70 2.8, 70-200 VRII 2.8 and 105 2.8 VR package for that price.
