There is a Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Is that what you mean?

I believe that is what was meant.
I could be wrong though.

People always want to say something is in NY when it is actually in New Jersey. Like Liberty State Park, or the Giants or the Jets, both of which are in New Jersey..

I personally don't know how safe it is, but when I'm in a new location and want to find out if a place is safe I just ask the front desk people at the hotel I'm staying at. If they say it's safe, it usually is. If they say it isn't safe, I stay inside.

Tell my Jersey Girl wife that.
Die hard NY Giants fan and that the Statue of liberty has a NJ address according to her as a former postal worker there.

Thanks to all that offered answers to my question and the myriad of other non related spin offs. However, as I just found out the point is rather mute. I just got off the phone with one of the parks authorities who has advised me that after hours while the park is closed, and you enter, you will be arrested for trespassing. The park is patrolled by the state park rangers regularly. He was a very helpful gent and informed me that if I were to pay over $3,000 they would issue a special commercial permit and allow me to be in the park during the early morning hours and that included an officer to watch over me. There are ZERO opportunities for an individual. When I asked this fine representative of New Jersey (yes I meant New Jersey and not New York) if there was another spot he could recommend, he said I should just set up in downtown New Jersey. Thanks dude.

Bottom line here is... The park at night is extremely safe because it's empty. I'm so glad to live in Canada where we can access the parks and other points of interest regardless of the time of day. So long Jersey, Hello Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Hey assholes - this is a photography forum. Not really the place to discuss NYPD and the number of black criminals and where to get a decent sandwich in Brooklyn - just sayin'

Good phone to make. You saved $3000 and prevented an arrest for trespassing.
Perhaps your next attempt can be scheduled when the day is shorter and sunrise is in the hours that the park is open.

The park is a very open area, with lots of natural growth as well as areas off limits due to soil contamination.
It's better to follow the rules on this one.

LITANY AGAINST FEAR

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

If you are going to Brooklyn - set up beside the carousel after grabbing an ice cream on the pier - and jostle with all the other good natured, friendly locals and tourists alike - and grab fabulous shots of the Manhattan skyline

Since neither New York or New Jersey care enough about their citizens to allow them to legally carry a firearm for protection, and do not recognize out of State permits, like my Ohio carry permit, I wouldn't even consider it. This is not a political statement, it is just how I feel about safety and the ability to protect myself from sub-human scumbags.

Exactly right on.

Why did you capitalize the first letter of each and every word of your reply? Does your computer auto-capitalize every word?

Neither "side" has a monopoly on virtue and both have important issues that merit open and civil discussion. You siding with the police does not facilitate that discussion. Open season on the police is no more right than open season on young African-American men. The only side that should be taken is the right one. We face this issue precisely because of the "circle the wagons" mentality that you feed into and support. If you want to start citing numbers, how about going back to the inception of slavery and adding up how many black lives have been lost at the hands of law enforcement. This is about people doing the right thing. Not about counting the number of wrong things that have been done. Geesus. Your lack of insight is staggering.

Yes, let's bring slavery into it. Reminds me of my college days when the black students said the professors owed them an "A" (even if they skipped classes and failed the tests) because the whites kept him in slavery for so many eons.
