How I spent my spring Vacation

We made the trip to Bodie back in 2003. It was a dirt road to get there from Hwy 395 at that time. It must have rained sometime before we got there and they decided to drive a Caterpillar tractor the whole distance which left track marks in the mud. The mud dried hard by the time we arrived. I have a one ton capacity Ford van to accommodate a wheelchair lift so it has a stiff suspension and tires inflated to 60 psi. It was like driving on railroad ties the whole 11 or 12 miles from Hwy 395 to the town. Took about an hour to make that trip doing 10 mph trying to avoid jarring everything loose.

Your photos brought back fond memories of a similar trip I made to the Sierras several years ago. I loved Bodie, but visited in late August when it was ungodly hot. I heard about the hot springs in Lee Vining, but never was able to find out how to get to them. Thanks for showing me a photo of one of them. Looks like it would have been a fun time to sit and soak in warm water and enjoy the magnificant view.

Wow, glad you made it there safely.
Part of the road is still dirt. I was worried that when the
snow melted it might make is hard for me to get back.

It dried up very quickly though.
I hope the photos brought back some nice memories of your trip as well.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for looking.

I wore a jacket the whole time I was in Bodie.

Yes, the hot springs were awesome.
The local post man told me about them.

Yeah, well the 2" was perfect for photos.
That's good enough for me.

Here's one taken with some lightly falling snow

What a beautiful area. Point your camera in any direction up there and you will come out with a great photo.
