I can certainly understand the thinking in this exercise, and although the barn shot is the most attention grabbing to me, I can understand why #1 works in B&W because of the lack of color in the color shot!

Your welcome, I find that when I am using my 50mm lens being creative I have to get in a meditative state and helps seeing perspective, composition, then leads to the formation of the complete picture.

I really like them. When I read the title I thought it would be from Bob Yankel. I hope he comments.

All are very nice Linda. The heron is my fave followed closely by the barn scene. Nice job on them all.

Excellent, as usual, Linda. I really like the barn and the cemetery.

Very nice photos, Linda., each one. Great that you're taking a class, sounds like fun. Enjoy! And I'm looking forward to more photos displaying what you've learned.

In the class I'm taking right now, we're exploring high contrast vs. low contrast b&w images. Just because these aren't in-your-face WOW, does it mean they don't offer some interest? Not a rhetorical question, am really asking for your feedback :)

btw, the biggest thing I've learned in this class is that it's very stressful trying to produce quality images "on demand" LOL

Hmmmm, Hi Linda; the low contrast b&w seems to give an overall softness to the picture (nothing to do with focus) just a perception of a more tranquil scene. I actually love these and the farm scene with the chickens is special. BTW I drink an occasional beer, but I wouldn't recognize a hop if you hit me with it. Do you have any pictures of what a hop looks like LOL?

Nice work Linda. The first is very meditative. It recalls a monastery I occasionally visit where I've taken a similar photo though with less interesting texture on the wall. The third is a fascinating interplay of geometry. Neither would have evoked the same feelings in color. Keep up the great black and white exploration.

I think your photos are all nice. The first one would be better, I think, if it had more pop--I'm not sure soft is the way to go with it. At any rate, it seems to be an interesting experiment. Is this class something local, or is it something online? Just curious.

Beautiful examples of low contrast b/w, Linda. I'm finding I like the low contrast as much as I do the more dramatic high contrast image. Oh..you are so right about producing quality images on demand. Very stressful but a great exercise to keep us on our toes. :-D

On our toes

Thanks so much for your lovely comments, Donna!

That's a great point - by prime lens, limit the options for composition. I see some G.A.S. coming on :) Thank you, Dan!
