Hi, the a6000 is a great camera. Very light to carry around and you can adapter the canon lens. About flash, neewer have a adapter shoe for canon flash and works well. You can use yours nikon lenses or minolta, focus peek works great and you win a 2 stops. I am very happy with my a6000, it is lerning curve but worth, after you take dominium, you may forget a have dslr.

I am thinking of purchasing the sony a6000, I am looking for a smaller camera then my nikon D810 for running around with. I travel a lot and instead of lugging my camera with all my good stuff I am looking to travel abit lighter. Any thoughts?

Great camera ! ! - For travel, I would get the Sigma 19 1nd 60mm 2.8 lenses -superb IQ for $200 each. You will be amazed ! - and do not forget to use the 2X clear image zoom with the 60mm.

Do you need an adapter for them or do they mount directly on the camera?

They are e-mount for Sony. No adapter.

If you do buy the A6000 by all means download the manual by Gary Friedman as mentioned by Chollie. It is the best without a doubt. I have the A77ii camera and the so called manual that comes with it sucks.

It will be one of the best investments you will ever make.

For a smaller system, my money's on micro4/3. There's some wonderful deals on the OMD E-M5 with 2 or 3 lenses in the UK at the moment. Great range of lenses available, IQ very close to any APSC crop camera, and a much more portable system.

Go for it with the 16-50 pz tiny lens which takes great images. You can wear that combo around your neck all day and barely feel it. Great color and dynamic range.

The a6000 as a mirrorless camera, you can put any Nikon, Canon FD, Minolta MC/MD, Pentax K, with adapter that will work very well in manual mode. The 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 is a great walk around lens, you will never feel tired and take very good pictures and handle very well movies also!
You will not regret as a owner of a6000, it is so far the best mirrorless camera for the price range.

Meta ones has one that retains all your auto functions, including AF, but it's a bit spendy at +/-$399.00. The one I looked at adapts Canons lenses.

Just got an a6000! Great pictures-learning curve steep for a beginner-can do lots of neat things with it. It's small and kit 16-50 is a beauty. Love the OLED viewfinder.
Here's the kicker: went to the beach today with family, but didn't bring the Sony. Brought my little SL1, Tamron 28-300. Never used it before this extensively. GREAT BIF shots. Great kids pix! And the best of all: TOUCH SCREEN. Will probably return a6000, just can't live w/o the touch LCD
SL1 is small, light wait and the Tamron is a great walk around lens...
Just sayin'........

You will love it! I have posted several photos taken with my new A6000. I have health issues and this lightweight unit poses no problems for me.
