Also, I would look at the fuji e 2x or is it X2e. I think once you get into rangefinder shooting that the DSLR will seldom be used except for birding
I have the Sony a6000 for the same reason. Lighter, easier to pack.

Thank you. That is my only concern the focus. That would be the deal breaker, the fuji also has a nice camera x100t ?
With Nikon glass...its manual focus. Consider getting a6000 with Sigma Art Lenses.... each cost around $200 each. Excellent. Come in 19mm, 30mm and 60mm. I own all three. All have great AF.

I am thinking of purchasing the sony a6000, I am looking for a smaller camera then my nikon D810 for running around with. I travel a lot and instead of lugging my camera with all my good stuff I am looking to travel abit lighter. Any thoughts?
I posted this link yesterday.

Has any one ordered or read the book on the Miranda site?
Is there another book that is worth getting?
I have this camera and have put it aside. For now I just don't want to deal with it. I am not interested in wasting time finding the secrets, I just want the manufacture to include the information.
The Miranda book is well worth the price. Also, Gary Fong has some very good videos in the premium video section of his site. It costs $12 to get access but is also worth the money.
Thanks to all for all your info. It looks like this will be my small runaround camera. The sigma lens sound good. This expence I do not mind in my back pack or leaving in my car?
Have owned one since last Xmas. The menu options are incredible. I shot a seminar for a relative a couple of weeks ago. Brought three bodies, 2 Canons, several lenses and the a6000 with the 16-50 kit lens, no flash allowed.
Sony was the winner by far. The 16-70 would have helped for the reach, but with 24 MP, cropping was a breeze.
Still love shooting FF, but the Sony truely is an incredible piece of technology. The price convinced me to purchase, the image quality convinced me to rely on it more and more. Still waiting on an adapter to try some Canon lenses with it. I understand adapters are available for almost all brands. Fixed lens cameras are no match for this gem IMO.
I've used it for weddings....

I believe I posted thoughts on a6000. I have the NEX 7 and the a7s and the 6000 with better auto focus etc looks great.
But if I understand reviews their is no mic port. I have a
small quality sony mike for nex 7 that is great.
Is this true. And why would Sony do this??
A6000 is a great camera. Worth learning how to use its features. Takes great video. no remote mike is a drawback but well overshadowed. Hot shoe can take most flashes as well as Sony's. I use sony 18-105 f4 G oss lens it is high quality and well priced. F4 throughout is excellent. Also use Zeiss 24 mm 1.8.

Hi great info. The hot shoe might take some Sony mike setups.
Their hotshoes and camera mounts propietary have been really strange. My Sony AX100 camcorder had to look everywhere for not interface shoe that just take a mic mounted. Glad to hear this is a great camera.
I saw that strange shoe on some nex cameras but this a 6000 has a standard shoe. Friedman has a great book on this camera and its capabilities easily explained. The book is great but the online version is not. I have his previous book on the nex 6 which I sold to get this camera that electronic version was excellent. Maybe it will be fixed. Read comments on kindle books. Having the book on your phone is very convenient for quick reference and travel. I use the sony 20 flash . Small and has great bounce feature. Check it out.
