Hi Swampy, sorry to hear that. I've always liked the shots I've seen of yours. Just a question, you are using Canon lenses aren't you? I may be wrong but I thought you used a 100-400, Please keep us posted to your outcome. Did you sell your 7D?...Ron

Hey Ron, glad you liked seeing my wildlife shots.
I always used a Canon 300 f4 with a Canon 1.4 III extender. I've sent those into Canon for evaluation as well.
But the new 100-400 looks pretty sweet.

I still have both my 7Ds. My wife uses one and the other is used as a second body for close in ops and wide shots with other lenses.

I brought my 7D MKII to Canon repair with my Canon 100-400 lens. The micro-adjust did not correct focus issues. In fact in manual I could focus perfectly in AF it went out of focus. I have received my camera and lens back their repair info on the lens states " the cause could not be identified but was causing rear focus. Electrical adjustments were carried out on the AF assembly. Product functions were confirmed."
There seems to be no repair done to the camera.
I have spoken to other owners of the MKII and they have had similar issues with AF.
The repair appears to have been successful.

In addition to all of my Canon gear, I have the Sony A7r full-frame camera, and use the Metabones markII adapter for my Canon lenses. This is a very powerful combination of equipment because it takes advantage of the very high resolution sensor in the Sony camera body. in fact, I chose this because there was no good Canon equivalent to the Nikon D810E.

Therefore, we can have the best of multiple worlds by using Canon lenses on other bodies.

Hi
I currently have a 60D. I love my camera. I am looking to add a 2nd camera mainly for wildlife and birding. I just read up on the 7D and like all the features and a big upgrade for me on the focusing points.
What I would like to know is, anyone that has the 7D II how you do you like it and why?
The reason I want a 2nd camera is there are times I want a shorter lens on my camera, but I don't have time to change lens and the object is Gone.
Thanks, Cassy

Casey, I've attached 3 images taken with the 7DII. I enjoy the camera because it focuses fast and accurately, does 10 frames per second in burst, does really well using high ISOs and allows me to use all my Canon optics plus a few none Canon lenses. Great choice ... best, J. Goffe

So, who's screwing their customers?

Trolls really should do their homework before posting on forums.

In the end, there is very little difference in the images made by any of the cameras... Be they Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Olympus or anything else. You have to look at the images at magnifications well beyond ridiculous, much more critical than "normal usage" of photos for prints or publications, shared on the Internet or anywhere else.

Lenses in particular and the entire system surrounding the cameras are what's really important... both OEM and third party. Canon and Nikon have the largest OEM systems by far, as well as the most comprehensive support from third party manufacturers (Sigma supports both Canon and Sony pretty well... 40 lenses for Canon, 34 for Sony).

Sony has been very innovative in DSLR development and that's very good and cool... But, it doesn't really make all that much difference in the photos produced, unless you spend all your time pixel peeping and not really viewing the images in a practical manner.
Well, let's do a quick comparison of some "fu... (show quote)

WHERE did I mention lenses?

Or is your post a feeble attempt at bait-and -switch?

Do you REALLY think selling cameras in 2014 with 2011 technology for a PREMIUM price is the way to treat loyal customers? Are you DEFENDING the practice?

Geez... there really IS one born every minute isn't there? :(

This camera is 3 years BEHIND the competition, and it costs TWICE as much to boot.

Canon owners should NOT be suckered into spending premium money for a product that is not even CLOSE to what the market currently says is standard in terms of performance and image quality. :(
If that's is the case why did Scott Kelby move from Nikon to Canon and you should read what he says about the 7DMK2. He spent an hour talking about it! Enough said !!
Nor should they be FOOLED into thinking that what Canon has to offer in the 7DII is anything BUT substandard when compared to the current state of the art for APS-C flagship cameras.
Joe, I think Canon has decided to take FULL advant... (show quote)

It is 2015.

Hmmm. It'seems a good thing this isn't a BMW, Cadillac, or Mercedes Benz forum or we would have to blame them for using old technology for premium prices.

It really isn't a question of just technology but one of a system versus parts. Canon offers much more robust systems than does Sony, but that doesn't mean that one brand is better than the other. Either has to meet the needs of the user. If the system does, it doesn't matter which label is onit.

You cannot simply say that Sony charges less for better technology and that is all that matters. Sony charges less because there is less demand for their photography products.

Cholly, we know you have strongly held opinions, and there really is nothing wrong with that, but there is always a time and a place.

At the moment, you are behaving more like 'Trolly'.

Are we criticizing your choice of Sony? It works for you, which is great, but it may not be the best choice for everyone.

Please adopt a little more balance if you can.

How many PROFESSIONAL photographers do you know that actually use a Sony . Any sporting event any wildlife all Canon or Nikon, no others. The Canon and Nikon users rest their case!!

Thanks, love your art/work! My wife shoots a 5D MKII and I' still shooting a 7D but am looking hard at the 7D MKII. I shoot the 300 f/2.8 with a 1.4 also and she shoots a 70-200 and sometimes with a 2X when shooting wolves or bears. Waiting to see what Canon does for you, good luck...Ron

Here's a review you might want to see. I don't know if you are familiar with Scott Kelby, but he received a prototype of the 7D MII and reviewed it before Canon released it for sale. Here is his long winded but interesting review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAckPcKK76U

Cholly, have you become little more than a Troll?
You sound just like MT now. You have to denigrate every Canon owner and possible future owner by intimidating them into having them admit that if they either shoot or are considering a Canon that they are somehow stupid or simply fools!
You are saying that Canon products are old tech and their cost is inflated simply because people are willing to pay for it since they are fools?
I have no loyalty to Canon, choosing to shoot them because what I plan to do with a camera system I feel is done better with a Canon.
When Sony Sales reach into the 30-40% I will certainly consider them.
There is just so much more to a brand than just a camera body.
For example most shoot in Raw then dump all their pixels to print in Jpeg. Wouldn't it be better to print in Raw as well? I can DO that with my Canon.
Combined with perfectly matched Canon inks and paper, the ONLY thing that matters is what hangs on your wall, not in pixels in your computer.
My workhorse lens for sports is my 200 1.8. Even Nikon doesn't have one of those!
My pics come out just fine for me, but you probably will say my standards are just extremely low since I shoot with a camera whose DR sucks.
Cholly, what a camera does on paper, is very different or completely unnoticeable to what happens in the real world.
My next big purchase will be a 500 f4. It weighs LESS than my 200 and I'll be able to shoot handheld. That's extremely important to me. Way more important than any body, as it allows me to get the shots I'm looking for.
Canons aren't for everybody, that's why there are nikons and sonys.
I'm willing to pay for what my cameras do, even if it's only half of what Sonys do or cost. That does not make me a fool or stupid. For what I do, I feel that Canon makes the best system for me and others seem to agree with that.
Cholly, post a few pics you feel would NOT come out as well using a Canon Camera, I'd like to see them! Remember, the proof is ALWAYS in the pudding! So much new tech at half the cost must look stunning!
Can't wait to see them.
THAT is what will convince Cassey otherwise, not condescending talk!

Buy the camera that you want, and set aside a chunk of money for making a girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse very happy, and then spoil the hell out of them!

I think that is a rather unfair and unwarranted comment about MT Shooter. Perhaps there is someone else that fits the description better if we need some kind of comparison....

For the record, I am a long term Canon user....
