HI, My name is Bob and I have retired in Arizona. I have been taking pictures since I was a toddler and found my fathers box camera. Unfortunately, all my pictures were on two or three frames of film. Advancing film was not my best skill.
I had advance quite well with film and developing my pictures. Although, I love the hands on process, I really like the advantages of digital over film. I don't have to have a darkroom and the clean up is much easier; to name a few.
I recently received (after many hints) a Canon Powershot SX50 HS. I am looking forward to learning how to use this ultra zoom bridge camera.
Hope to learn from this site and all of you, while adding my knowledge to the mix.

Welcome to the Force...You have entered an addictive land of truths, myths, fantasies, ghosts, goblins and good old fashioned advice (whether you want it or not)...
Seriously though - the folks here have lots of good advice and a couple of days of experience and are willing share what they can - don't hesitate to ask detailed questions, in fact, the more details, the more accurate the answer ;)
A couple of links to help you
navigate the forum and a couple of
resources to hopefully answer your questions or guide you in your quest...
Looking forward to seeing some photos.
Welcome! Lots of happy SX50 users on UHH :)
Did you download the 265-page user manual? Some of us called Canon and got them to send a free printed copy. Others have purchased nicely bound, larger print copies through places like Office Depot.
You can use the search function at top of page for past discussion of settings and such.

Welcome. I couldn't help but notice the Red Sox hat. I am originally from Boston and have found over 50 years that you can take the kid out of Boston, but you can't take the Boston out of the kid.
You will find that this site is alive with very experienced photographers who will willingly share their knowledge and advice.
Enjoy!
Greetings Bob, and welcome to the UHH.
