I think Canon sucks. I also think Nikon sucks. None of them takes good pitchers. I have photoshop 7, it don't take good pithers neither.

One good thing about these type of arguments is that there are a lot of novices out there that seem to think that there are only 2 decent brands of cameras to choose from when they realize they've outgrown their point-and-shoot. This prompts many of the responders to rightly inform these novices that there are indeed many more exceptional brands to choose from which is a good thing. The people at Olympus, Pentax, Sony and others should be grateful for forums like this.

Oh, come on, Steve! It's always been a lively topic of conversation, and, unlike nuclear fission, most people are familiar enough to join in the discussion. It not much different than the Ford/Chevy or Remington/Winchester debates. Just too much fun to give it up!

But the arguing is also so pointless. Shoot with the damn things, whatever camera(s) you have.

I actually get a great deal of fun out of the stupid debate and the boring farts who join in. I sit with a cup of coffee and let my imagination run wild about what they look like and how friggin awful life would become if you had to share a work station or similar with them. To their wives I extend my deepest and sincere sympathy.
Secondly I look in their porfolio here and lo and behold many of the loudest talkers do not seem to take photos at all. Just read and digest reviews and polish their lens collection. All bought because of hot reviews about zero pin cushion and other such tasty and desirable attributes.
The first caller was right Nikon and Canon both make good kit. So stop talking and boring others and get off ya butt and use what you have to take some photos.
Me? I use an old Pentax thats been dropped 3 times onto concrete floors and totally immersed in the sea. Still going strong and in use at least 4 days a week with 100 plus shots taken on each of those days. I also post photographs regularly here. So to me Pentax is OK as well and Im sure Sony and Olympus are fine bits of kit as well.

Good points! Yet, I get tired of the brand wars, use them.

Doesn't anyone remember that there are other cameras besides "the big 5"
I embarrassed a lot of people at daughter's nursing graduation years ago with my rummage sale Yashica. After that I literally stumbled on to a Canon A-1 complete kit.
Dragged kicking and screaming into the digital age, my own age and economics caused me to by another Olympus, an SP-590-uz, 'cause it had a VIEW FINDER! Love it, and there ain't much I want to do that it cannot do, besides being lighter , as is usual.

As of the likes of many here -- I find the Canon vs Nikon "thing" - very humorous. And many other here have read my thoughts on this ... The camera Brand that you "choose" (and therefore DEFEND to the Death) is Governed by the Assortments of LENSES you have acquired for THAT brand of camera. And it is what you are use to and feel comfortable with.

Me ?? What do I consider the "BEST".... ??

CANON - of course .. Hands Down the Best.

However = you should see ALL the DAMN glassware that I have assembled.

(noting your selfie) Canon "view camera" lenses? In what universe? Nikon yes, they do make large format lenses.

Ok guys, no matter WHAT your favorite camera is, especially you guys with NO opinion.
It's time to go out and get a Sonny. Shoot Sonny all day. Shoot Sonny as much as you can. After you shoot your Sonny, shoot Sonny again!
Just don't all shoot Sonny at once!
Gosh darn it, there goes that stupid spell-checker again.
That's supposed to be Sonny! No, Sonny!
SONY, there, I got it......., SONY!
Sorry Sonny.

IMHO Nobody cares. To me any camera is a good camera. Have fun with it. As to the topic, as I said, nobody care. But it sure is fun to read some of the discussions.

I cropped the photo for my "avatar" from a Larger Full Bod-Shot that show Three Canons on and hanging from a tripod....

However. As you did mention a VIEW CAMERA.. That Large one is an Ansco 8X10 and Yes I still make use of that "Thing"... LOL!!!

In Fact I like the Live View on my Canon 5D MarkII (s) a lot as I can manual focus when the light is low (i.e.= Sunsets and Sunrises .. And Moon Shots of Long Exposures.

I use manual everything about 85% of the time I am capturing an image that I will make into a Print.
(But - I am very use to that procedure.)

I wish that I could afford a DIGITAL BACK for my View Camera even a 4X5 but that is far and beyond my price range.

I think there's a bumper sticker in this, can't quite put my finger on it.

Everytime somebody responds to a thread like this, an angel dies.

"Aaack! Aaargh! Croakkk!"

There goes another one. Too much fun.

The "debate" over Canon vs Nikon is always good for a Laugh.

That is unless someone carries it into Getting Personal about it.

Then - well, I do not like confrontations over nonsense like that. I tend to Leave the discussion.... :-)
