Oh, come on, Steve! It's always been a lively topic of conversation, and, unlike nuclear fission, most people are familiar enough to join in the discussion. It not much different than the Ford/Chevy or Remington/Winchester debates. Just too much fun to give it up!
I actually get a great deal of fun out of the stupid debate and the boring farts who join in. I sit with a cup of coffee and let my imagination run wild about what they look like and how friggin awful life would become if you had to share a work station or similar with them. To their wives I extend my deepest and sincere sympathy.
Secondly I look in their porfolio here and lo and behold many of the loudest talkers do not seem to take photos at all. Just read and digest reviews and polish their lens collection. All bought because of hot reviews about zero pin cushion and other such tasty and desirable attributes.
The first caller was right Nikon and Canon both make good kit. So stop talking and boring others and get off ya butt and use what you have to take some photos.
Me? I use an old Pentax thats been dropped 3 times onto concrete floors and totally immersed in the sea. Still going strong and in use at least 4 days a week with 100 plus shots taken on each of those days. I also post photographs regularly here. So to me Pentax is OK as well and Im sure Sony and Olympus are fine bits of kit as well.
