Ah, but bigger doesn't necessarily equate to "better".... Plus "better" is a very subjective term, meaning different things to different... people...

But very boring after 50 years. I really think it's more about who's is bigger! There's an easy way to settle that, but someone would be really embarrassed in the end.

Now that would make this thread interesting. So lets all post a picture cos thats what photography is about. SS you post loads of messages as in over hundreds and hundreds but very few pictures. I could not give a toss about your latest Canon whatever and its superior frame rate etc. I would learn zilch from that but from your photographic work I may pick up a tip.
So hows about we all post a pic here?
  Agree totally

The fight on UHH over Canon and Nikon has been going on as long as I can remember. Frankly, they're both outstanding camera systems, so, why does it really matter? Take either one it becomes the photographer than is the difference.
Just received the latest edition of Popular Photography. The top of the cover says Camera of the year; NIKON D750.

You are absolutely correct. Having the best camera in the world will not help if one doesn't know how to use it!

You are being too harsh again Billyspad. Just like all those guys that think sliders are meant to be pushed to the right. Imagine what it would be like if all those stupid old farts were out roaming the streets, looking for new shots. There are some things that are best kept indoors.
And as for you poor busted old camera, well it's not their fault that you fell in the ocean. And it's not their fault that their lenses are better polished than yours. And it's not their fault that all of their best work was done with film and all this digital stuff is just too complicated. And it's not their fault that you are too busy making pictures to go to a camera store and look at new stuff. And it's not their fault that some have trouble memorizing spec sheets.
Just lighten up, my man. It is way better that they stay indoors.

Another good one! She looks like a genuinely happy person. You captured that nicely!
I have to admit that I do get a kick out of reading the Nikon vs Canon. I remember when I started it was a Kodak S10 (about 45 years ago). Now I have 3 Nikons (L810, P530 & D3100). The reason I went to Nikon is simple, it was on sale! I still think it's the person behind the camera that counts. The debate reminds of those who argue IU vs Purdue, just depends on what you like.
Bill, your portrait of that lady is a very good one. The camera and lens are not important to me because although I have used Nikon cameras and lenses for more than 50 years a good photographer will make good use of what he or she has.
I do not participate in Canon vs Nikon discussions. I have to agree that many of those critiquing photographs in the forum still do not have the expertise to actually educate a little better the person that is posting. I have never seen anyone educated because his picture "looks great."
I have participated over the years on several photography websites similar to this and when it comes to critique I have seen the same pattern of "your picture looks great."
There is another facet to critique and it is the ego of the person posting. It has been my experience that the ratio of those who want to really learn compared to those who are looking for someone to praise the "quality" of their photographs is much less than the latter."
I like to help within my humble photographic experience but many times I regret it when I have participated.

Maybe he's just tired of all the Nikon vs Canon posts and arguments. It's not the camera as much a the person pushing the shutter release button.

I care, and I care a lot, but not in the general terms you describe. Cameras, like cars, golf clubs, clothing. They should impart a feeling of comfort and confidence. Different models are better than others for particular needs, so within that context, some are indeed better than others. I think your argument is better suited for beginners and occasional photographers, but less so as the experience level grows.
I agree, You should go with the system you like. I personnally like Nikon but my daughter-in-law is currently using a Canon T3i that I thought was a great camera.

There is an objective difference. What satisfies you is another thing.
