Well. I am getting very good results with the gear I already have. Buying something much more expensive would be a waste of money in my case. And that does not only apply for my cameras, but also for my smartphone. I was quite happy to get a Lumia 1020 for one third of what an Iphone costs. And got a good camera in the Lumia when the Iphone is nowhere close. It is important for some of us to know what we are buying, not only buy camera gear by fashion.

I used Canon cameras for years. I had a problem with the last two Canons that I owned. Structural problems. So I know own a Nikon. I am very happy with it and so far it works well and has had no structural problems. I think the most important factor is to know your equipment and be familiar with its use. Much more important than a product war.

always thought it was a matter of personal preference. buy the camera or digital imaging device you like, and you will probably be inclined to use it. does not matter the name plate on the front of the device.

There a couple of things to take away from all this sawdust on the floor....every manufacturer has it's niche....as an example, in broadcast television, Canon lenses are the defacto standard for ENG/EFP....they give consistent images and are VERY robust where as Angenieux has probably the best EXTREMELY long telephoto television camera lens on the market, but most operations can't afford it.....

The other point of take away is that whatever a neat new bell or whistle comes up in the newest camera from Brand C it will more than likely be incorporated in the next generation from Brand N or Brand S.....The way one manufacturer does a particular thing may not be "better" than another, but it may work for a given user better than the other brand. A really good example of this is the difference in owners manuals......how one group translates one thing may make it more understandable than another....i see this all the time in amateur radio manuals.

Soooooooooo.......use what works for you in the niche that you shoot in and leave the rest up to the marketing departments.......(and only believe about 50% of what they say).

You don't read the forums often enough perhaps but these topics inflame a number of the membership. I just got into it with another member Regis, who posted image taken on his Canon stating that it was superior to anything comparable taken by Nikon. It was not a joke. So perhaps in second sight this was but it is also trolling which is unacceptable.

Many have paid thousands of dollars for the best in equipment and take great exception to those who claim it is not. Amateur, professional , casual it does not matter, everyone is protective of their investment and the joys of what their investment produces. ATM, both Canon and Nikon produce exceptional equipment and that is how we should leave it. You want to joke, perhaps you should troll on comedy central? I think people come here to learn.

I just bought a D5200 Nikon SLR.I shot with a N70 Nikon and it was a work horse.I just sold it.I had it for 15yrs.with no problems,a great camera.I am learning about the D5200 to get familiar with the settings and shooting digital.I am a NIKON guy all the way.I think canon is top of the line also but I am used to the NIKON and there products.Both great cameras in there own ways,can't go wrong with either one.Jim Bianco

Yes Mark, I've learn a lot from looking at these postings everyday! So you paid thousands and thousands of dollars for your equipment, I take pictures for the fun of it and by being on here with information given by Pros like you make my picture taking a lot more fun. That being said! A person can still have a little sense of humor in doing so.

Real pros can do Photoshop in Camera, with Nicon.
