Not entirely sure. Just feels like quite a gap between the 16-35 and 150-600. Not thinking near term, just down the road in case a rich relative leaves me money!

Get your D610 with the 24-85mmVRg f3.5-4.5 zoom "kit" lens. It's very crisp and a great valve. It'll fill your focal gap well. I have the lens and it resides on my D610 most of the time. It is also a very popular lens with the D6x0 crowd.

Not sure if it relevant to you, I trying to make the same decision going from a D5300, at first I was going to get a used D800, after reading all the reviews realizing now that the D750 seems to be one of the very best with AF i'm 75 so that might be more important to me.

Thanks for the input. I think I have decided on the D610, now just have to pinpoint which lens to start with. In doing some research, the 24-85 appears to be the best $ value if purchased with the body. Reviews are favorable. The 16-35 that MT Shooter recommends is quite a bit more. Might need to save up longer for that one. Decisions, decisions!

Thanks for the reply Tracyv. It has been tough choosing between the D610 and D750. I think I have decided on the D610 mainly because of the drop in price and lens rebates if purchased with a body. This allows me to get into full frame sooner than if I had to save more for the D750 w/ fx glass. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for mentioning that. I was going to ask a couple of days ago... I think with an in-camera focus motor and an auto focus lens, the camera defaults to the lens auto focus. Not sure, but I just got a used 400mm and the auto focus is incredibly fast, more so than my other AF lenses. If that's the case, then it wouldn't really matter which of the full frame bodies you go with for AF speed. Now if you're talking about AF accuracy, I haven't really checked on that.

Without a doubt the D810 is a fantastic camera. I'm fortunate that I have the holy trinity and a 105G. If you can, hang on to the D7100 as it is a wonderful camera. Good luck.

Def. keep the 7100. On vacation it will come in handy for your wide angle lens. Combine that with a 70-200mm with a 1.4x on your D810 and it will cut down on your lens changing. You could also stick a 24-70mm or a similar lens on the D7100.

If you go to a FF, your long lens will suddenly be not so longSS

SS....I'm disappointed. You know very well that the exact same image that is available on a dx camera is also available on an fx camera, so there is no such thing is losing length.

I am saving my pennies for a full frame camera. Currently using a D7100 mostly with the Tamron 150-600 for general wildlife with the emphasis on birds. Happy with this set up but want to add a full frame to my bag.

I know I will need new glass since all I have is DX except for the Tamron. What gets the nod between the 610 (great price right now), the 750 and the 810. Looking for good low light/low noise combo. I think the new rig will be mostly for landscapes. What first lens would you recommend to go with the camera?

Thanks for any and all thoughts!

Don't even hesitate. Get the D810.

I recently upgraded from the D7000 to the D600 full frame. I too enjoy landscapes and have stayed with the Tokina 11-16mm I bought for the D7000. I just keep it at 16mm when using on the D600. But I upgraded to the new 80-400mm VR lens from the 70-300mm VR, for my birding and wildlife. Extremely sharp lens and is getting better as I practice with it. The lens is very manageable in the field and doesn't require a tripod. The high ISO capabilities of the full frame and reach of this sharp lens /handheld/ is hard to beat.

You asked for opinions so I will give mine!

Nikon didn't treat customers well at all when some of their customers suffered oil spots and other issues with Nikon cameras in the last two years.

My opinion is to stay away from them and go with a company that is far more innovative, and indeed makes camera sensors for other camera companies.

I'd go for a Sony A7 - A7r or the amazing A7s

Sony are leading the way now in camera technology and their glass is superb.

Next year the A7 will have the stunning 5 axis stabilisation enabling you to shoot handhlend for longer exposures and ensuring sharpness.

Got to be worth a look.

I have the 610 and I love it. Even better than the 600. The 810 is an awesome camera and will probably have a better resale value later. The 750 has some new perks. If budget permits, i'd go for the 810, if you want wifi, the 750, if you have less a budget and want a lighter camera, the 610. I have a 28-300 lens and love it as well. Good luck, its a hard decision but not matter what you choose, it will be a great camera. You can't go wrong.

I will second the 16-35 f4-it is an excellent lens- you can wait for a sale and also check and see if it is discounted if you buy a d610. I think nikon is having a sale now - check b and h. Good luck with your choice. Rich
