I am saving my pennies for a full frame camera. Currently using a D7100 mostly with the Tamron 150-600 for general wildlife with the emphasis on birds. Happy with this set up but want to add a full frame to my bag.

I know I will need new glass since all I have is DX except for the Tamron. What gets the nod between the 610 (great price right now), the 750 and the 810. Looking for good low light/low noise combo. I think the new rig will be mostly for landscapes. What first lens would you recommend to go with the camera? Thanks for any and all thoughts!

S10, unless you have really bad GAS, you may want to wait till nikon comes out with the 7100 replacement. Remember the D4 is low mp.
Or you will have to decide what is actually important to you. If you go to a FF, your long lens will suddenly be not so long and if birds are your pride and joy, suddenly they will get very challenging.
It sounds like the money is not a problem since you're talking all new glass.
OR, there is the dark side! Good luck

The D610 has a much better buffer than the D7100.

What doesn't? :XD:

Just as well since the D7100 is losing resell value. I can't advise on what camera or lens, other than I love my 28-300mm ED VR for a full frame walkaround.

When I went from D7100 to D800, I decided to keep the D7100 not only for backup, but also for the lens lengths I haven't replaced with FX lenses yet.

Thanks OddJobber. I will be keeping the D7100 for it's length. The full frame will be an addition.

I shoot a D600 (with replaced shutter) and use Nikkor primes;
20, 35, 50 and 85 and zooms 24-85 and 70-300 with what I consider great results. I also keep a DX as a backup/second body. I'm sure you'll enjoy which ever one you choose.

Thanks chase4. I will probably get a zoom as the first lens with the new camera to give me some flexibility then go from there.

Unless you decide to go shooting sports then the D610 is probably the very best buy in a full frame camera on the market today. For your landscapes and portraiture it is superb and will give fantastic 24x36 prints. It is also one of the highest rated low noise, high ISO cameras on the matket.
Use it and the Nikon 16-35mm F4 lens and your landscapes will impress regularly.
And if you want to do wildlife the D7100 will always be close by I am sure. One other advantage to the D610 is that its controls are virtually identical to the D7100 so there will be no learning curve at all, it will feel like an old friend the moment you take it out of the box.
Good luck.

Thanks MT Shooter. Sports isn't a high priority. And yes, the D7100 will always be close by for the wildlife shots. Seriously leaning towards the 610 since the price has dropped. After the 16-35mm F4 what would be the second lens you would recommend?

MT Shooter, other than price is there other any other reason you recommend the 610 over the 750?

Not at all. Its just that with Nikons current price its a very nice bargain in a full frame body. I have a D750, but don't shoot it myself much, it resides in my rental inventory and is VERY popular with the video crowd.

Not entirely sure. Just feels like quite a gap between the 16-35 and 150-600. Not thinking near term, just down the road in case a rich relative leaves me money!

I do like a bargain. But have learned with my other vise which is woodworking not to necessarily settle for what I can afford at the moment. Sometimes it behooves one to save a little longer and buy more than you currently need. I hate to out grow equipment!

Thanks for all the advice.

It is. I like to fill that gap with the Nikon 24-120mm F4 NANO VR
