Revenge is always sweet. Buy a different brand when you replace it.

My beloved Canon SD600 won't turn on, Canon refuses to even try, can you imaging that?

6 years of pampered use and that's the way Canon responds, they even charged me for shipping, hum,

It's looked like this for the last 4 years, amazing that it worked until yesterday, was always there for emergencies.

Looks like it was not very "beloved" or you would have taken better care of it. It would be cheaper to replace it than have it repaired. Actually in my 45 years of photography I have seen a camera that looks so abused.

I AGREE!! I have used Canon's customer service a couple of times & they have been VERY helpful & polite.

I read the heading of your blog an was surprised, then read your comments and the pictures. I agree with Canon. Personally, someone walking around with something like you have is NOT representative of Canon.

They could have fixed it, but it would have cost you more than a replacement and you still would have had something that looked like a piece of garbage. Then you would have complained about how much they charged you.

Switching would not be revenge. The brand of camera would not matter. It will still look like a piece of garbage if it was not properly cared for.

Are you sure you didn"t keep this camera in your back pocket. Time to give it to fido to play with.

R.I.P. Look at this in a posative way. Your Canon "is in a better place now."

And,...."You get that new camera you've been wanting!" It's a win-win situation.

This was my spare

It's looks a lot better cosmetically than my daily pocket camera, can't believe it's done. Oh well, I shudda bought a Nikon

That's like going from a Chevy to a Ford - aaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!! Canon's are like Dodges when they pass on - they don't really die, they just rest in peace. Oh yeah - by the way - I'm a die hard Canon user in case you haven't guessed. I'm a die hard Dodge man too. That Canon stayed true to you to the end - don't desert the faithful now.

Think of it like this: That camera would have wanted you to keep on shooting. And yes, it is in a better place where there is no such thing as being envious of your next camera-friend.
Gosh, just think of all the great shots that it gave to you while in its prime and this is the thanks it gets.
You're one hard woman.
That camera didn't die, you killed it! lol

All kidding aside, may your photographic life go on for many years to come with a great new shiny mate with more pixels than you thought possible.

Cheers, RIP, and all that photographic jazz!
Gordon

Close but no cigar .... The truth is

About 4 years ago while on a trip I pulled off the expressway to fuel up. I see a pick-up pulling a boat, a tall boat, and I just new that he wasn't going to make it under the awning. I grabbed my SD600 and started clicking, Bingo,he kept going, didn't even look, took down most of the awning, there was so much dust everywhere it looked like smoke.

Dummy me left the canon on the roof while I pulled my car out of harms way. In a matter of minutes there were emergency vehicles everywhere.

When I got back on the expressway I chose to view the pics I took, couldn't find the Canon ..... ops ... up on the roof

Back tracked, found it lying in the expressway, battery and sd card destroyed but the Canon by george still worked.

Since then I give it to my nephews to play with when they visit. This last christmas, tried to flush the Canon and a channel changer down the toilet .... that's the end of the Canon.

I never contacted Canon, I wouldn't even think of it, I made all that stuff to hear your reactions.

But regardless of what it looks like it did work and it worked the same as before it got beat up! Canon makes a excellent product!

From the comments I know there are a very nice group of folks posting here.
