When photographing waterfalls, I like to go with the midstream approach ..... not silky by invoking long exposure times, nor drops frozen in midair by uses of ultra-high shutterspeeds, but something that suggests a little of each. I am more concerned with capturing an idyllic scene on a spring day that makes one glad to be outdoors. This is one of the places I go to put me in that mood.

Lovely, why I love being outdoors, too.

Thanks Brow. If we had snow covered mountains, that would be my second place to be.

Thanks Photophile. Nothing beats the wide open sky for giving depth to a photo.

Thank you Chritofras. They are some of my favorite places. I used to live in San Pedro, CA and every weekend I went hiking in the San Bernadino mountains. My usual destination? ..... a waterfall.

Thanks for the compliment Moose. I'm not quite sure it rises to the level of awesome, but I'm happy you liked it.

Thank you VietVet. You and I must be of an age ..... that was my war too (Viet Nam), although by the end of my career, I was planning the comms for "Desert Storm". Probably like you, I'd rather sit by a waterfall.

I like what you have done with the water. Looks like a great place to sit for a while. Where in NC is this?

AuntieM, Cedarock Park is about 12 miles south of Burlington. There is a nice gazebo built along the side of the river, with wide seats and railings which are just perfect for changing camera lens.

Thanks for the info. I'm always looking for places to go with my camper and get away from the rat race.

I'm not sure you need to bring your camper (it's probably only a day-trip from anywhere in NC), but they have a little B&B place if you wanted to stay a few days.
