Waterfalls in Spring

When photographing waterfalls, I like to go with the midstream approach ..... not silky by invoking long exposure times, nor drops frozen in midair by uses of ultra-high shutterspeeds, but something that suggests a little of each. I am more concerned with capturing an idyllic scene on a spring day that makes one glad to be outdoors. This is one of the places I go to put me in that mood.

Thank you sir. I take it from your avatar's name that you like to get out into the countryside with a camera too.

Nah, the bear traps took out all the geese. Once we cleaned up the feathers and the gore, the waterfall looked pretty nice.

I can see why it puts you in that mood! The water is perfect.

Very nice! When I have the opportunity, I try all three compositions, to see which I like best.

It would be easier if I had waterfalls I could easily access.

Thank you Lensman. Upstream from this dam, my daughter and her cousin swam in this creek as youngsters. It's still one of their fondest memories, but "don't tell Mom!"

Well Just Fred, you and I must think alike. I DO have shots taken at varying shutter speeds, but I liked this one best for overall effect.

Thank you rp2s. Ours is a county where one must go looking for beauty ..... there just aren't that many "monumental visions" out in the countryside. So we take it where we can find it.

Thanks jeanbug. This was shot from a gazebo overlooking the falls, large enough to set up a tripod and move around enough to change perspective. The only thing NOT under my control was the errant branches of foliage sticking out all helter-skelter from the hedges.

Thank you Erbiv. My dogs have all liked it too, mainly because I let them go off-leash and explore the place when the Ranger wasn't around.
