Sure have....have you heard the term AWOL? Which Bergdahl was when he became a pow. He walked off post and was captured. Wouldn't be surprised if given a military tribunal, court - martialed and dishonorably discharged.

He walked off his post, desertion by any other name, oh excuse me it's not desertion if you leave some of your personal effects behind. You might have intention to come back and get them, consequently not desertion in the eyes of the military, only AWOL. Bad trade.

It may seem callous but five high level terrorists for one low ranking soldier doesn't seem like a responsible trade to me. What do you folks out there think?

It seems ironic that Bergdahl, who by most accounts is a deserter, is deemed more important than Ambassador Stevens and the three who gave their lives trying to protect the US embassy in Libya.

Are Hagel and Obama offering up any Mexican drug lords or other murderers in American prisons for Sgt Andrew Tahmooressi, whose only crime was missing his turn and entering Mexico unintentionally?

For decades we've all heard that Israel, one of the toughest countries out there, has had a "no negotiating" policy also. But you still hear of swaps and behind the scenes talks that go on, and get things done. All governments will figure out a way to free their citizens. This one involved more than a thousand prisoners released.

absolute non sense, first of all, I understand ( I may be wrong) that our guy walked away from our safe place, left his gun and practically went to turn him self in.
besides I thought we were not supposed to make any deals with them people. I think Mr. Obama is using his "power"to do many things without letting Congress know.

Camp Pendleton is not that far away and I think that enough "Marine Corps Volunteers? can be found to "free" a fellow Marine.

then why is prisoner exchange still in the books.?

To exchange prisoners is appropriate but with this administration it always seems to be a bad trade and not in our favor. If he was doing something good then why didn't Obama notify Congress as he was supposed to do? Any good answer? Wouldn't a good prisoner exchange have been one Taliban for Sgt. Bergdahl? Did we have to give them everything?

We had Iran curbing their nuclear weapons building and just when things were getting good for America and the rest of the world this administration gave Iran what it wanted and took away sanctions for a promise of not doing anything bad nuclear wise. We have an American pastor and I believe a supposed CIA agent being held in Iran. Would it have been too much for the present administration to have made it a condition of the negotiations to have demanded their release?

We give Pakistan millions of dollars annually. Would it have been too much to ask that this administration demand the release of the doctor who helped us kill Osama Bin Laden so he could safely be brought to America. He helped us nail a murderer of 3000 Americans and this administration lets him sit in a jail cell.

We had rockets in Europe to European interests when Obama took office. Then he negotiated with the Russians to take the rockets out of Europe. From the negotiations America received_________? That's right, nothing.

Honestly, do you not see any of this? Is everything Obama does perfectly acceptable by you?

How true, DP! I think Obama should have let him stay over there and rot in an Afghanistan prison. Is that what you really want to hear? Nothing this president does will be ok with the fringe.

From the info that is becoming available it seems that "B" was actually not a prisoner, but a guest that enjoyed playing Badminton with his hosts, helping cook the meals, and pretty much having the run of the areas where he was living. Certainly not POW treatment as we have known it. My guess is this Deserter has tired of the relative shabbiness of the third world existence of the Talibans, and would like to return home. Our current Administration may be willing to give him a pass on his shameful actions, but the comments from the patriots that actually served with him will tell the story to the public.

OK all the facts may not be out,but it is coming to light that Sargeant Bergdahl may be a deserter, and a sympathizer.
It was reported that he did not want to speak English, and had converted to Islam.
Trading 5 "High" ranking enemy for a possible deserter,if true is one of the stupidist stunts in history.
Can we all say we have a "not a clue" President.
Sure does take the focus off the VA scandal now doesn't it? No wait maybe he does have a plan.

I believe technically it's still an illegal deal. Congress notified 30 days in advance before a deal is struck with known terrorists. Didn't happen!! First thought the "5" were relative nobodys...not hierarchy in the Taliban. "If" we got bin-Laden...why not one of our own?

Yep, 30 days notification.
Now, of course, the soldier was 'near death' and they had to get him quickly - which, of course, is contrary to the original news reports on his condition.
