It would help if we knew where in the "Carolinas" and for how long. Lots of history, lots of scenery, lots of territory (2 states) to cover. To use your request: "be specific, please."
Yes, well, the reason I was asking is because we don't know the area at all and don't know specifics. We are formulating them as we read your posts. So, anything you want to put into the mix of what are your favorite places will be noted before a plan is made. Thanks.
@TheRabidOne: Wow! THANK YOU for spending the time to list and comment on all the places not to miss, PLUS the websites to go with them. I APPRECIATE YOUR THOROUGH POST WITH THE INFO. I have looked up all the places and the web sites and noted them down in geographical progression. Next will be a discussion with hubby to firm up a plan.
As a native of NC, I would say you can get beautiful pictures anywhere from the mountains to the coast! The only restraint for me is TIME.
@beachlover: thank you for your input and the beautiful photo of sunset with gulls. The snow photo has a "chilling effect", and just hope it will not be a driving problem come April. You can rest easy, we are not coming to your cozy little island with the "fishing problem", LOL.
@yellowrally: thank you about the bridge in Charleston. What is the name of it?
@MeredithImages: Thank you for the hint of Rainbow Row in Charleston.
@BillN: thanks for the photolink: I earmarked it for more viewing later on.
If you get into S. Carolina you should spend a night in Beaufort, where they filmed Prince of Tides, The Big Chill and parts of The White Squall and Forest Gump. It is a beautiful little town with much to offer. The low country cooking is great. You have to go for the Frogmore Stew. which is delicious.

I live in N. Augusta, SC.....no, don't come here! LOL
I just wanted to let you know that Charleston is the place to go! It's beautiful year round as far as I am concerned. Seeing downtown is a must. All the beautiful homes, the live oak trees are so awesome. The history of the place. Meeting St. and you have to do a ghost tour. April it will be beautiful. And the bridge! Cross it and you can see the coast, beach front houses, it's almost like a different area completely.
So, here is my offer....if you decide you are going there, let me know and I will be very happy to give you any further info.
Blueridge Parkway.....yes to that as well.
Also, my husband and I use Priceline.com all the time and we haven't been disappointed yet. As a matter of fact, we are always surprised at the great deals we get.
@Doe: thank you; yes we are definitely going to Charleston. Thanks for the hint about Priceline. Have always been hesitant to use it, so it's good to know you have good experiences with it.

For pure fun...and great photo opportunities take advantage of one of the many white water rafting locations in the state.

We have never been and want to explore in April. I see several of you hail from that area and many more have photographed there.
Could you please suggest what we should not miss. Be specific, please.
Gotta go to South of the Border.
Just kidding unless you want to capture schlock at its finest!
