What is the weather like in November ??? ALYN
Oh meant to mention that if you are in the Raleigh/Durham area there is a unique photo opportunity. There is the Carolina Tiger Rescue center which houses the big cats. They have a Snow Tiger among other unique cats. If you want to go, let me know at what time you are looking at. My daughter is a guide there (she works at Duke University animal research) and she has told me that during the hot summer months the animals aren't active as when it is cooler. So April may be one of the better times to visit. I'm getting a local photo club squared away for a guided tour for the club. There are public tours on regular schedule. But you best get a slot ahead of time because they fill up and the center allows a certain number of tours so the animals won't get stressed. BTW, Jellybean is the white Tiger and his personality is quite unique, check his profile on the site. My daughter has known him to lung at the fence, scaring the 'pee-honky-doodlie-squat' out of visitors at times. As a photo note, there will always a chain link fence to contend with most of the times, but the guides will take your camera and take the shot through the fence. They used to allow people up to the fence line for photos but because of liability purposes they are kept a few feet away from the chain link fence by a second barrier. Good pics are still possible though.
So if you make it to the Duke Gardens, this may add another photo op.

@Chuck: Duke Gardens. Good suggestion. Had not thought of them; no one on this site had mentioned them. I looked at the photos of it and am impressed.
@ALYN: very nice; will have to see if this time or a subsequent trip. What do you see when you are at the time share?
@TheRabidOne: 'pee-honky-doodlie-squat' haha, never heard that before. Thank you for the pointer and how neat that your daughter is a guide there, out of Duke U. I read the site and especially about Jellybean. We are quite aware of the lie-about of animals in the heat of summer but April should be a more active time.
If you're going to Duke Gardens, you might want to stop in at the unique Duke Lemur Center. They have the largest collection of lemurs in the US, and they have regular tours. Many are in safari-park-like habitats and offer terrific photo opportunities.
Or you could just go eight miles down the road to Chapel Hill, where there is a real university. If the beautiful campus of the first state university to open its doors doesn't turn you on, there is the North Carolina Botanical Gardens and the Mason Farm Nature Preserve to explore.
When you get to the beginning of the state stop into the welcome center, get a map and talk to those manning the info center. They generally have some good ideas

GoofyNewfie is right, best BBQ in the USA is Eastern NC BBQ. I've had both and the KC just does not compare.

@Cappy: oh, yes, definitely will get info at the entries.
The bridge in Charleston is called the Arthur Ravenel. There is a small park under the bridge on the Mount Pleasant side. Golden hours and nighttime shots are great here.

I was posted to Greenville S.C. in the 1950's; my recollection was "stinkin' hot." Tell me about November weather. ALYN
Donaldson Air Base in Greenville?
It's still here; not as an AF facility, but a large industrial complex, home to all kinds of businesses. It's called Donaldson Center. Even Lockheed-Martin has a facility that refits aircraft, and the runways are still in use.

Dear ???:
Yep Donaldson AFB. It was a big deal then. Had a great Hospital. We left from there to go to Germany.
But I only recall it being hot. What' the usual weather in November ?
November can be rainy, but usually the temperature range is between 50-60, even low 70's. The hot weather is in July and August; but then only up to the 90's. Pretty nice compared to the humid areas like in the middle and southern part of the state.
