I've been very happy with Blurb. Their software is easy to use and has a lot of preset page layouts to choose from. But you can vary them and create your own layouts as well.

Service and results have always been good.

yes they are great but the order I have is way above and beyond their abilities to give me a good deal for volume. I'm talking above 1,000 books.

You're really looking for a book publishing company, not a photo lab, for quantities like that.

If you use lightroom 4 blurb is built in. Julieanne kost has a three part video on the lightroom book module and phil Steele has a two part video ( for a price). Blurb also has a swatch kit for about eight bucks that gives you sample paper, the cost of the swatch gets applied to the cost of your first book.

We just did a book on Blub that is quite fabulous. It is a good idea to lightly oversaturate your photos to go in a book and you will be happier with the outcome. Here is a link to the one we did on our trip to Bhutan. http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/invited/3631483/1fbe0bec08b7bdaf6c0739166248b758f6a2fd14?ce=blurb_ew&utm_source=widget

I myself and many of my friends have used "My Publisher" They have outstanding customer support I mean outstanding. Toggle between Costco and My publisher they have very good discounts. So you timing is critical depending who is offering the best deal at the time.

I have a friend who teaches Digital Media classes, she has tried most of the publishers and always goes back to my publisher, because of paper and ink quality.

I put together a 20 page photo book of my mother in law's 80th birthday. Easy to use Blurb and was satisfied with the quality and the options. Waiting time was reasonable. Worth a shot in my book. (pun intended) Mother in law was very pleased.

My Publisher has lay flat pages which is very nice. Have done several leather classic albums for clients and they like them. Have done books with Blurb as well and they are very good quality. I make my photos slightly brighter because printing always darkens them a bit.

I have been using Mixbook for a couple of years. There are many theme layouts to choose from and they can be easily modified to satisfy your creative choices. I especially like being able to stretch a picture across two pages. There are also many stickers and layouts you can use to embellish your books - its is like doing a scrapbook without the glue and scissors and expensive embellishments.
I have done three custom wedding books and the brides really love them, and usually order smaller copies for the parents.

The book is printed on archival paper and there are a variety of sizes and cover finishes. If you lay out a book in 12" square format, you can have it downsized to 8.5" square without having to adjust your layout.

Go to Mixbook.com and check it out.

For all Canadians:
I checked all the companies making books that are listed in this thread. The only one with also a Canadian address is Blurb, which is why I picked it.
Costco of course has stores in Canada, but I was unable to find out where the books are printed...
If choosing an "across-the-border" company, and Border Services decides to open the parcel, it will at the very least cause delays, plus they may decide to collect the sales tax for the item (12% here in BC) plus charge $10. for collecting the sales tax.
Just something to keep in mind.

I've made several books with Blurb and was very happy with the results. I found the software to be quite user-friendly.
