Has anyone tried Blurb.com to create a photo book? I am considering having several books made as Christmas gifts. So if anyone has dealt with them, or any other web sites that perform similar services, I would love to hear about your experience and whether satisfaction was achieved. Thanks to everyone.

If you go to Blurb.com and search for "Vaala", you will find some books by Craig Vaala. I know this individual, works for our local sheriff's department and I have seen those books. The books are VERY NICE!! AWESOME work on the book-making!

Stay away from MyPublisher, poor software and prices seem the best but are not.

I have used shutterfly.com for multiple books, and have been happy with them all.
One book that my daughter made did not have the best quality photos, but they still looked good in the book.

I and my daughter have also used Shutterfly for photo books ( I refuse to call them albums).
Layout software was OK, used a coupon deal on the price.
Pretty quick, and mum and the grandmother's loved them.

Did a book of an African trip and it turned out great, software that is easy to use and a great looking book. Would highly recommend Blurb.

I used Blurb in Lightroom this past month for the first time. Although it was fairly intuitive and easy to use, I was unable to modify any of their preset layouts. The originals were full frame RAW files that I post processed in LR5, but I found the photos in the book to be a bit flat and dull. Overall I'd say the books are okay and it's nice to be able to create them in LR5 as a collection, but for my next book I will be returning to Shutterfly. I think the quality is a little better and I want the added flexibility of moving my photos around on the page, even overlapping them, and not being restricted to the preset layouts. It may be that Blurb has this flexibility as well, but I wasn't able to find and use it. Just my 2 cents. :)

I have used MyPublisher several times and have no complaints. Your book will show up in a few so you will be able to see for yourself.

Maybe some help. I'm working on a book currently. If I don't like a particular page layout, I go to Picasa, which has a good collage creator, save the collage and upload to the book as a full page image.

The collage creator does a good job and allows manually adjustments once it comes up with it's ideas!! I have used that for calendars!

Sounds like a viable work around. I don't use Picassa, but it's a freebie, so I could download it if I go back to Blurb. For the time being, though, I'll stick with Shutterfly as it also allows others to see my album since the work in on the web, whereas the Blurb work is all on my pc, so no one else can see the electronic version of the album.

They can see previews once you are done. Search for "Craig Vaala" and look at his for example.

Doesn't that depend on whether you use the online or downloaded design software?
