Dang- wish I had known this sooner. I ordered a book from them a few days ago...
If you like the price you got, you will probably like the book because their production is OK. When I went to get a price several days ago, the end price kept going up and up, felt like a bait and switch to me. Also, there software was not very exacting and not enough choices to suit me.

Doesn't that depend on whether you use the online or downloaded design software?
Don't think so. Next time I talk to the guy I will ask. I know I will have a chance to talk to him sometime this weekend.
I have used Shutterfly with good results once I figured out some of the software. However, Shutterfly has been bought out by My Publisher which should make them the biggest in the business. For Software, I use My Memories which I consider about like the Photoshop of photo books. You can do about whatever you want using their tools. You can export pages as high quality jpgs and paste them into almost any of the online production places. I just finished a 25 page book in MM and am now looking for some good coupons to become available to get it produced. This is my 5th book produced in My Memories. There software cost $39.95 list, but they often have it on sale for $20.

Actually, it's the other way around.
And ShutterFly also bought BorrowLenses.
I received an update to the My Publisher software last week and I took the time to read the license agreement. I did not like it because it said if you used their program, then you transfer copyright of the book pages to them. That sounded like Facebook stuff to me and I do not want that.

You are right and I am glad I was wrong. I saw they also bought out Tiny Prints who is known for their card production. I have liked ShutterFly production and will look at them for production of my latest book. Thanks for the heads up. I took what someone else said and did not check it out even tho it sounded wrong to me.

I used Blurb in Lightroom this past month for the first time. Although it was fairly intuitive and easy to use, I was unable to modify any of their preset layouts. The originals were full frame RAW files that I post processed in LR5, but I found the photos in the book to be a bit flat and dull. Overall I'd say the books are okay and it's nice to be able to create them in LR5 as a collection, but for my next book I will be returning to Shutterfly. I think the quality is a little better and I want the added flexibility of moving my photos around on the page, even overlapping them, and not being restricted to the preset layouts. It may be that Blurb has this flexibility as well, but I wasn't able to find and use it. Just my 2 cents. :)

I was able to pretty much change anything I wanted with the Blurb software, you just didn't use the right software, I used the downloadable version, and upgraded from the standard paper. The dust jacket was also great.
About three days ago, I uploaded a book to Blurb.
I actually made the pages in PSE 12 and uploaded the finished page. Found it quite easy to work with their software once I figured out the exact dimensions in pixels for the page and how much to add for trimming.
I'm not at home right now, but if anyone is interested I'll be able to look it up first thing tomorrow morning.
Now I'm waiting for the finished book to arrive, should be by December 3rd.

Costco has a great program. Just had one made for my daughter's wedding and it came out beautifully. Many options for layout, size etc. and only $20 for 30 pages.
I use adorama pix.com. I think their books are stunning. If I want something nice I go there. They have so many choices for creating a book. They even have a free workshop to show you what you can do. I love that their pages lay flat. They are more expensive but worth it. They do have coupons every so often.
Thank you all for the suggestions and advice. I'm grateful. The book I ordered from Blurb arrived last night and I couldn't be happier. They do a terrific job. I also found a coupon and saved $12.
I've used iPhoto four or five times for book publishing- absolutely top notch quality - though a bit pricier than others. Easy to use as well and lots of formats to test out. Would unconditionally recommend.

Has anyone tried Blurb.com to create a photo book? I am considering having several books made as Christmas gifts. So if anyone has dealt with them, or any other web sites that perform similar services, I would love to hear about your experience and whether satisfaction was achieved. Thanks to everyone.
I just requested a quote from them and mine is a large order, Photo Book for historical project. and got a message it will be two business days for someone to return to me with a quote. Hmmmmmmm.....................................
I've been very impressed with my books from MyPublisher. FYI Shutterfly now owns MyPublisher
