Maybe some help. I'm working on a book currently. If I don't like a particular page layout, I go to Picasa, which has a good collage creator, save the collage and upload to the book as a full page image.

That is a great idea I never thought of. Thank you for sharing! I'm working on one right now so this will be very useful.

I've made many a photo book using Shutterfly and find their work is excellent and the process is easy. I've also used one other company, I think Picaboo, and found the process for creating the photo book was confusing and time consuming.
Only once using Shutterfly did I have a book where the binding wasn't holding well so I contacted them and they sent me another free photo book in no time flat. They have very good customer service.

I've been very impressed with my books from MyPublisher. FYI Shutterfly now owns MyPublisher

yes they are great but the order I have is way above and beyond their abilities to give me a good deal for volume. I'm talking above 1,000 books.

Thank you all for the suggestions and advice. I'm grateful. The book I ordered from Blurb arrived last night and I couldn't be happier. They do a terrific job. I also found a coupon and saved $12.

I just requested a quote from them and mine is a large order, Photo Book for historical project. and got a message it will be two business days for someone to return to me with a quote. Hmmmmmmm.....................................

With a quote for 1000 books, it will take more than the average customer service rep to prepare that!! You will probably have your quote sometime Monday pm.

Has anyone tried Blurb.com to create a photo book? I am considering having several books made as Christmas gifts. So if anyone has dealt with them, or any other web sites that perform similar services, I would love to hear about your experience and whether satisfaction was achieved. Thanks to everyone.

Blurb is a great site. Never had any problems with them and they produce a good product.

I send them my book last Tuesday, late afternoon.
This morning (Friday) at 2:30 I received an e-mail that the book is on its way to me. Certainly speedy service!

Adoramapix!! You will love their albums... I know I do. I have a problem with one not long ago and with just a quick phone call they sent a new one. I've done several albums and never before had a problem. They are great!!!

I took pictures at a tulip festival. They were disappointing individually, but all together in a collage (I made in Picasa) they looked good. I made a card out of mine but a page in a book would be a good idea too.

I have successfully used both Shutterfly and Blurb. Blurb is the better software for a book that contains a lot of text. It also offers some nice choices of papers. I used the premium semi-gloss photo paper for my last book and it was very nice. Be sure to leave a good margin from the trim line or your text can run close to the edge of the page.

I've used Blurb a few times already, never a problem. Instead of using their templates I created my own with their software (I believe it was make your own or something option), now keep in my mind that it has been a little over a year since I used them. Never had any problems with them or the orders. They offer different paper and covers, so if your pictures seem flat it could be the fault of the paper. You can make the book viewable online (no matter which method you used for creation), you just have to click make public. You can also sell your book through them, you set the price and then people can purchase the book from blurb and you receive your portion minus their fees (I haven't tried this out yet). But it is a good tool and you are not stuck with their templates. Thanks GP

I've used Blurb for years and have books for sale on their website. I have found their software easy to use and the finished products are very nice indeed. I think their printing is a bit higher quality than Shutterfly's and the pricing is comparable.

I have used Blurb to produce four books for personal use and find the program easy (after a little learning) to use. I liked Blurb better then then Sutterfly because I can down load the program to use on my PC and do not have to be on line all the time. Because of a limitation in the Blurb program ( it does not allow for tilting of pictures on a page) I produced one book by creating each page layout in PSE, flattening the layers into one jpg photo and then importing it into Blurb as a full page. This allow me to place the pictures in the positions I wanted, along with any text (warped or straight ) and with various backgrounds. The fourth book was ordered on the 20th of Nov and should be delivered before Dec 6th. I hope this helps. The downloaded program is free and you can play around with it as much as you want.
