Congress has health care benefits. Why not we the people?
The AHCA is a start. Let's not kill it before it has a chance to work.
Meawhile Congress should pass a budget to fully fund the government without any stings attached instead of holding we the people hostage.

SOLUTIONS:
1. A Constitutional Amendment for Term Limits on all politicians and judges, meanwhile
2. During the next election and every election thereafter vote out all incumbents.

A poll conducted on MSN the other day indicated that 72% of the respondents would not sign up for Obama care until forced to do so. The last I checked 72% represents a majority.

I agree with your solutions but the American people created this mess by keeping these clowns in office. How would you get them to vote them out?

Let me see if I this right. The House has approved a bill to give the 800,000 furloughed GOVERNMENT employees back pay when they return to work. So....they are getting a paid vacation at the expense of the taxpayer. Congress did not give one thought to the damage that will be done to business that depend on things such as our national parks and national recreational areas. 30% of the county where I live is in The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The very livelihood of the businesses in areas such as Townsend, TN are dependent upon the park and now it is closed in the peak season resulting in layoffs of hotel and restaurant workers. WHO is going give the their BACK PAY

Would it not make sense that if we are going to pay the government workers anyway that should at least go back to work? This is another example of the stupidity of those that we elected to run our country.

This whole issue is over Republican vs Democrat. And of course, there is that idiot Obama who does not know whether to crap or wind his watch, refusing to compromise in any manner whatsoever. The Dems are protecting a flawed health care plan that is destined to failure and refusing any compromise offered by the Republicans. An agreement by the Democrats to delay the individual mandate would put an immediate end to this madness. But bonehead Reid refuses even to put that compromise before the Senate!

This is nothing more than a political attack on the American people by a childish and selfish group of empty headed idiots in Washington who are totally out of touch with the real world.

The American people are the ones who are damaged by this but no one that works for the government will be harmed.

You have this entire situation scoped out and interpreted correctly. Do not even bother responding to Richard Sports. He has no brain only a mantra.

Slavery was the law of the land, too. Saying that is just parroting nonsense. The authority to fund, or not fund, the ACA is given to Congress by the Constitution, which happens to be the supreme law of the land. So it is completely lawful and constitutional for congress to choose what to fund. Much the same way Obama has the power to choose which laws to enforce.
As for anti-democratic, absolutely! And I am extraordinarily glad for it. Democracies, as our founders knew, are just a vehicle for mob rule. That's why we have a republic.

I agree with you 99%. The Constitution does give Congress the ability to fund or not fund. Nothing gives the President the ability to ignore an existing law at his discretion. The exemptions to the ACA passed out by Obama are entirely illegal.

Chalk this one up for Kombi. He has stated it correctly and his slavery analogy is cogent and sound.

Same goes for the Governments failure to properly enforce the laws on the books just because they don't like them (think of the recent DOM & Immigration laws)

Still another Republican who doesn't whether to S**t or go blind. You probably never had to pay for your own health insurance, and have no idea what good the Affordable Care Act will do for those who need medical coverage.

And your name calling is just plain stupid.

Typical liberal. Attack the poster! You did not understand a word that I wrote because you are so blind to the truth.

As is the case with most liberals, you have a complete failure to understand. If the ACA is the LAW then how did Obama change a part of it all by himself (the employer mandate)? And BTW, the Supreme Court DID NOT uphold the law, they only ruled that the penalty is a TAX. Go do your homework.

This shutdown is on the shoulders of an unyielding Democrat majority in the senate who refuses to even delay the individual mandate. Let's see...it's OK if Obama wants to delay a part of the law, but it is NOT OK if the Republicans want to delay a part of the law. You simply don't get it! Oh...and the American people did not pass the ACA by reelecting Obama. The majority of the American people oppose ACR...that is a fact.

Not only that, the ACA was passed without a Republican vote primarily because of the realization that it was flawed and needed some major surgery. Many Republicans and others of us out here fully support some provisions of the law. The flaws need to be fixed and the way to do that is sit down and talk.
The arrogance of the sitting administration to not be willing to do this is astounding.

Hey Pentony

your comment "congress should pass a budget" indicates to me that you are ill informed. Congress has passed a budget 96 out of 100 of the past years. The four years that they did not.... The last four years!! In each of the last four years the House of Representatives passed a budget and sent it to the Senate where Harry Reid and the dems refused to even bring it up for discussion.
If the dems had done their job as required by the constitution, we would not be in a partial gov shut-down now.

What is it about photography that attracts so many incredibly ignorant bigoted loonies?? I belong to many different forums with a fairly eclectic mix of personalities and this General Chit-Chat forum really attracts the crazies from both sides. This forum is more entertaining than almost anything, keep up the good work...

You forgot the part where the Republicans can't decide whether to fight each other or the Democrats. I'm really getting tired of the escalated bickering of both parties over the last several years, but the Republican in-house fighting has gotten to the point where they have been completely incapable of providing a candidate that does not appear to be a joke compared to the Democrat candidate. Frankly, I attribute that alone to be the primary reason Obama is in office. It's not looking promising for the next election either.

A lot of folks on this site seem to listen to Hannity and Rush. Lots of repeat from them. I wonder if they ever think things through.
