At least now we know, where Saddam's chemical weapons went.

And where did you get this information? from Dick Cheney?

You "Right Wing Hard Liners" will concoct anything to save face.

Gates has got it right, the president was willing to strike not because he wanted to, not because he thought it the right thing to do, but to save face. For no other reason, nothing good would come out of the strike, the damage that Obama has done is already done, a strike would not fix anything but would draw us deeper into a dangerous situation.

Really??? How very astute of you!

One of the problems we have is to say we are going to attack a country months before we attack them. Now does that make any sense? Gives the enemy time to hide whatever their weapons. Also, never could understand why we have to be the police force of the world. If they want to destroy their own country then let us keep our noses out of their business.

We have invested enough of our NAtional assets in this area of the world to little or no effect. Our troops and their families have sacrificed more that enough. The politicans place the nation into situations with no thought to what they expect to achieve to "make things better". We have not been hired to be the worlds police force, if the "world" wishes to address an issue that THEM step up with their military and national assets.

The President and his "advisors" threw out what they believed was a neat and manly sound bite about something that had no direct affect on the US National interest. They thought that they could scare Assad into complying... that didn't work and Obama was made to look a fool. Now he wants our military to cover the check HE bounced .... If the world is horror struck about the use of the chemical weapons let the French and the Italians send their troops and supplies to address the issues. We have no treaty obligations with the Syrian rebels, a large faction of which have been killing American troops and citizens for years,

We all have our opinions on Syria and our reasoning for that opinion. Read the following statements from these experts and respond with your reasoning for your decision.

This will not go any further than right here, it is simply for our information. It is real easy to let our feelings control our casual responses here at the Hogg. Simply be honest and sincere in your reponse, forget the personal feelings a lot of us harbor.

keep in mind both of these gentlemen held the position of Secretary of Defense.

Robert Gates: US military action in Syria would be like “throwing gasoline on an extremely complex fire in the Middle East.” “Haven’t Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya taught us something about the unintended consequences of military action once it’s launched?

Leon Panetta : Obama should have backed up his words with force and launched military strikes after the White House concluded that Assad had crossed a “red line” by using chemical weapons.
We all have our opinions on Syria and our reasonin... (show quote)

Isolationism didn't work before, and in this age of weapons of mass destruction, it still doesn't make sense. There are to many variables involved for us too ignore this act of horror. We have NATO allies on the border, terrorists (however defined) that will have access to the wmd.
The age of us not having a dog in this race is over.

I would love to see the USA stop helping other countries and take all that money and help people here who need it.
I would also tighten the borders to NOT allow everyone in to our country. Not total Isolationism but close to it until our country is better. We give far too much to other countries. I would love to see that stop. Oil is plentiful in Alaska and North Dakota as well as Texas and who knows elsewhere. Sorry tree huggers, but if the the oil pipeline would help us NOT having to get oil abroad in the middle east, then I am all for it. I would rather buy our oil from Canada than the middle east. Why is this not happening more?
Anyway, just a few thoughts...

If we stopped giving money to people that hate us trying to make them like us...
Spent that money responsibly on solar and wind and maybe hydro power...
we'd be in better shape...
our enemies would not have money to buy weapons to shoot at us...

Oh that makes sense, our government could never do that!!!

With all due respect, the planes flown into the WTC were American owned.

It has little to do with what is perceived right or wrong, but everything to do with how it affects Israel because whatever decision is made, it will be made in the interests of that country. jmo

Yes, really! Our president was willing to kill people who have never wronged or even posed a threat to this country just to save face... He put himself in to a position that he never should have found himself in, a result of his big mouth running wild.
