The Republican Jesus

I have always found the disconnect between the Christian orientation many (but not all) conservative Republicans claim, on the one hand, and their actual legislative efforts on the other hand, to be fascinating. Here's an article about "The Republican Jesus" that really highlights this. The last three quarters of this article are where the author really gets into this subject matter.

The link speaks the truth, but says it in such a snarky way that it is useless as an educational piece. Any Jesus who would say it that way is not my Jesus.

Interesting, poorly thought through reaction. Actually, it is probably a VERY GOOD educational piece for anyone with an open mind.

A very good summary of the political views of the Christian right wing in this country. I may use it in my class and have the class attempt to tear the argument apart. I think it would be a good exercise.

Open mind? It is an extremely biased piece that picks up small threads of truth surrounding current events and uses them to weave a ridiculous web of prejudiced perceptions... I am sure that to some it rings true just as biased critiques of progressives ring so true to those who see them as a threat to our nation.

And once again we disagree ! So what is new ? Not your opinion, not my opinion. Somewhere here in this thread I just read a post by someone whom ObamaCare has worked wonderfully for and now allows him to have medical care after years of not being able to afford it. How does that fit into your picture? ObamaCare is here to stay and, like social security, will benefit the people. No amount of bias is going to change that. And a generation from now it will be regarded as one of any president's greatest achievements.

Don't mind Croce. He is used to ignoring facts he doesn't agree with. Things like science, etc.

Please define "snarky." I guess by your own admission you have that same ability many religious people have -- the ability to ignore even things you even regard as true.

Wrong Richard. The reason I ignore posts made by certain people, yourself included, is that you never engage in a cogent discussion. You are not open to debate, you are not open to consider an alternative view, (I am, and quite often do, for instance, although Republican I am anti tea party and anti christian right due their inflexibiliity, I'm an agnostic, I believe in womans rights, believe in constructive welfare but detest mooches, etc etc) whereas you, Richard and the others I ignore are not debaters at all but propogandists. You have no open mind on any of your passion driven agenda and are interested only in driving home your point which is that liberals are wonderful and the right is against mankind. Like your leader, you are polarizers. Therefore Richard, engaging with you is a piss in the wind and I hate wet pant legs. Hope you understand. Oh, and I never deny science. Don't know where you picked up that gem. I might deny god but never science.
