Gratuitous insults? And what is this post Richard? A gratuitous insertion of your nose into a side conversation which is none of your business? I guess we are just not meant for each other Richard.

Jesus was not a politician, HE was GOD in the flesh!

Croce, if it is posted publicly it is everyone's business. That is the nature of a forum. If you want to keep something private, use the private post function.

Croce, if you posted a sign that said "Post ignored due to source" that's a contradiction in terms. You didn't ignore it. You responded to it. Get it ?

I have always found the disconnect between the Christian orientation many (but not all) conservative Republicans claim, on the one hand, and their actual legislative efforts on the other hand, to be fascinating. Here's an article about "The Republican Jesus" that really highlights this. The last three quarters of this article are where the author really gets into this subject matter.

I think the Republican Party would be in better shape if they paid less attention to Canon Law, Religious Dogma and the Evangelical Taliban that seems to have popped up here in America.

I agree. We are a multi-cultural society and right-wing, fundamentalist Christian dogma damages the Republicans.

The issue has become how do they extract those elements from their party and how do they attract members to replace them? The Republican party is a minority party. That is to say they have fewer registered members, and if it were not for their skill at gerrymandering they would control less than 25% of the Congress. So we have a party that is actually in power without a majority consensus or mandate. So dire is their position that the party must cling to whoever steps their way and in doing so has attracted only fringe elements. These elements consider themselves above other members of society for various reasons. Evangelicals will not cede any of their points as they believe they are ordained by a higher power to promote their beliefs. Some of those beliefs are in opposition to the current ethos of our society and as such would dissuade people from joining the party. What is comes down to is that the followers of Republican Jesus have replaced the fiscal conservatives in the leadership of the party.
