TheeGambler, the answer to your question is very simple. Taxes. Federal income taxes, federal gasoline taxes, and other taxes. And nothing is taking our state "into" bankruptcy. We had a few difficult years and we are now on the mend, getting better and better financially with every passing month. You have an inaccurate view of what is happening in this state. Go to this URL and read.

Richard, then why are your socialist programs taking your State into bankruptcy!

I hear this all the times from libs, how much mexifornia donates. Libs never explain how a State in such dire need, so close to bankruptcy that it needs to be continuously 'bailed-out" by the rest of the country..how does it contribute more than it takes?

And Texas, the most backwards state in the union, is criticizing any other state ? Thanks for giving me my Easter laugh.

By the way, California is either the most popular tourist destination in the United States or the second most popular. There must be something people see in this state that you cannot.

Now you are talking sheer ignorance! You are losing credibility. The only increase in population is because of increasing numbers of illegal aliens, cause mexifornia pays them to come there. Do people still speak English in mexifornia?

You see this as a good thing? All it does is put even more people out of range of affordable housing. Typical California, lends spend more than we have to.

Jealous much? Louisiana is a pit both fiscally and intellectually compared to California. I have lived in both areas. Those in the southern states really cannot comprehend how backward they are as compared to life in California. This is not meant as an insult it is purely descriptive.

This is an amusement, not an argument.

You and others seem to forget CA as well as most of western USA was Mexico long before it was USA - don't knock these folks who want to better themselves and their families living conditions - till you have lived where they come from you have no right to knock them. Hard work is all they know - not welfare. If they are working for cash they are paying taxs too - sales tax, the property they rent has taxes paid by the owner from their rent.
Who is on the street corners, parking lots of hardware store looking for work as day laborers - not the whites & blacks - who is working in the fields, orchards & vineyards/ again not the blacks or white unless they are on a tractor or in a truck?

The description of San Francisco is so off it does not even warrant a comment.

If mexifornia could get rid of the radicals and the "human trash" maybe it could be changed from the bankrupt, failed socialist experiment that it is today. No more bailouts for mexifornia!

Great then, no more bail-outs for mexifornia since you are rolling-in-the-dough! Pay your own bills, and fund your own socialist-state. And, if you get in trouble just raise those taxes some more! Wonderful how a few corporations (which usually don't pay taxes) and all those illegals (which don't pay taxes) are keeping up with an out of control budget. Have you got your government check this month.

I guess you missed my post stating that I have lived in California and it was full of nutcases, weirdos, fruitcakes, and every other kind of human trash that one could never imagine finding all in one place.

Long, long ago I used to escort tours through the South Pacific and Asia, and the experiences I had taught me something. There are some people for whom the glass is always half empty (yourself ?) and some people for whom the glass is always half full. Your description of the places you visited in California sounds like what one of the "glass-is-always-half-empty" people would give. To a great degree, one makes one's own happiness. And one is equally responsible for one's own unhappiness. Misery follows the "glass-is-half-empty" people like their own shadow on a sunny day. I could tell you some stories . . . .

It always amazes me how negative people can find little or no good in life - it seems all they look for is doom & gloom,it reminds me of a wise man's statement- "If you find 4 jerks in a day - you are one"

When she sits down to her Easter dinner I am sure she doesn't realize that half or more of it comes from California. Do you think we could apologize to Mexico and give Texas back ? I am emailing my representatives immediately to suggest this.

Life is good. Some people swallow the universe like a pill. They travel on through the world like smiling images, pushed from behind...

And the "glass-is-half-empty" people are their own punishment.
