No, there is another reason, at least in my area. This is because I live in a primo place, with a climate difficult to equal much less surpass, great cultural and scenic attractions near it, and a rich intellectual life. From my porch I can see downtown Oakland, the Bay, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge. Houses here don't stay on the market for long. I am just lucky we got here 47 years ago when prices were miniscule compared to what they are now. I am pleased to see that certain individuals in this forum look down on California because it means they will never move here.

The ONLY reason prices are up in the 100k range is simply because they fell so... far in the housing melt down in 2008-9. The market is having its largest recovery at this very time...

Danilo, hate to tell you this, but if you had read the article carefully you would see that California is on track to have a SURPLUS, and that federal grants, etc. are contributing a good deal of the costs, too. YOUR tax dollars at work, HA ! Furthermore, the addition of the jobs these projects will entail will also help our economy. Don't know if you noticed, but real estate values are going up fairly well here in California. In my area, they improved by around 20% in the past year, and the increase shows no sign of slowing.

The reports you have reveled in about the death of California's economy have been great exaggerated. Of course, since you are listed as being from Las Vegas, you probably have a totally pessimistic view of the economy, since your is one of the worst in the nation.
Danilo, hate to tell you this, but if you had read... (show quote)

This reads that you are going to have a surplus and you are using federal grants for the projects you mention. This that add to the federal deficit and debt does it not? You owe us all a great big thanks and please don't brag until you can do it on your own.

Their is more to life than a view. The Rocky Mountains don't keep me here, but the view is unsurpassed. There are only three factors that cause homes to sell, location, price and show ability. Home values are recovering. Here in Calgary we have the hottest real estate market in North America. I know... its how I make my living.

The reason the rest of America calls Ca the land of fruits and nuts is all the radical liberal bullshit things that originate there.

We appear to be on track for a surplus in several years. When your state stops taking federal grants (probably in far excess of what you put into the pot), then perhaps California will, too.

We're a great state, on the road to recovery (jealous ?), where we have the 9th largest economy in the world, and where we contribute enormously to the happiness and welfare (not in the sense of food stamps) of everyone in this country, so wish us well. Since what happens here eventually happens elsewhere in the country, what floats our boat will eventually float yours. You are lucky.

No, the reason California is called "the land of the fruits and the nuts" is because the people who call us that have pinched, crabbed existences, live in a constant state of paranoia, and cannot figure out accurately what is in the best interests of themselves and this nation. In a word, they are JEALOUS. We're happy they aren't moving here.

There is certainly more to life than a view. But a view sure helps !

Mexifornia is a socialist sink-hole that can't survive without other people's money. Live by your own legislation or die by it... No other State wants to support you.

There is nothing to brag about when it comes to mexifornia unless you like the demographics!

Riverside wasn't a great place, more like a "sewer." Smog rolled in from LA and you can't even see the sun til Noon. What weirdos that weren't in NYC were in LA and the surrounding area. San Francisco is filled with "street people' shitting on the sidewalks and the smell is bad, let alone it was a health hazard to anyone living there. If mexifornia could get rid of the radicals and the "human trash" maybe it could be changed from the bankrupt, failed socialist experiment that it is today. No more bailouts for mexifornia!

And Texas, the most backwards state in the union, is criticizing any other state ? Thanks for giving me my Easter laugh.

By the way, California is either the most popular tourist destination in the United States or the second most popular. There must be something people see in this state that you cannot.

Richard, then why are your socialist programs taking your State into bankruptcy!

I hear this all the times from libs, how much mexifornia donates. Libs never explain how a State in such dire need, so close to bankruptcy that it needs to be continuously 'bailed-out" by the rest of the country..how does it contribute more than it takes?
