There are so many old film cameras around now with no doubt spare lenses , did not even consider anyone would want them.

I could do with the money, having splashed out on the MkIII..more than I have ever spent on anything, cars included

I could try and see if there is a local camera club with younger members, if no one has any ideas on creative uses for them

Get a screw on lens reverse mount or extension tubes and use for macro. They should all work fine.

Anyone got any creative ideas on what I can try with a few old lenses.

I have a Canon 5D MkIII and the lenses are compatible with that, auto focus and aperture all work ..seem fully compatible.

They are free basic kit zooms:
Canon 35-70 f3.5-4.5 EF
Canon 70-210 f4 EF
Sigma 28-200 f3.5-5.6.

Not worth selling for what I would get for them so was wondering if there were any uses for them other that door stops.
Can be destructive..cut and shut home made tilt shift? Cut and reverse part for macro?

Jsut wondering if anyone had any interesting ideas?

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I'm a senior on a fixed income and trying to get back into photography since high school. Would these lenses work on a Canon 3Ti? If so and intrested in selling please let me know. I'd be interested in the Sigma 28-200 f3.5-5.6.
Thanks
Dave (ssajn)

You are spot on there Brian!!

I have no idea what other cameras these would work on, so can't help there, but I would imagine postage from UK to USA would be overly expensive.

Have the lenses with me while on the Isle of Sark , for a weeks break.

Am taking series of pictures with them, all set at a common focal length for them all (70mm). Three shots with each lens, wide open,f8 and fully stopped down, with camera tripod mounted.
Shooting in max size RAW. No computer here, so will compare them when home.

Did you not see his second post, less than an hour after his first saying he would like to quote "If someone wanted them, I would be happy to sell them, give them away even".

Making a tilt/shift lens from salvage parts would require the skills of an optical engineer and access to a complete machine shop and a good machinist. Even then there is no guarantee your end result would be better than what you can purchase from LensBaby.

Yep i did say that...but with a proviso on the last line that I should have perhaps emphasised.

I said wrote:

I took a series of shots last week with them all.
Three different shots with each lens I have, Wide open, f8 and shut down. ALl set a approximately 70mm.
I put markers out to get the zoom as close as possible the same on each lens..and used Av mode. Should have used manual and kept the exposure exactly the same.

The Sigma wide open is definitely very soft but that is the only real conclusion I came to. L series lenses seems slightly sharper than the other Canons, but not an amazing difference...but I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to comparing lenses.

Do not want to get rid of them, do not think I said that, said I wanted to have ideas of what I could do with them , how I could use them. I have L series equivalents, so why use these when I have the faster 'L's
