What to do with old EOS lenses
Anyone got any creative ideas on what I can try with a few old lenses.
I have a Canon 5D MkIII and the lenses are compatible with that, auto focus and aperture all work ..seem fully compatible.
They are free basic kit zooms:
Canon 35-70 f3.5-4.5 EF
Canon 70-210 f4 EF
Sigma 28-200 f3.5-5.6.
Not worth selling for what I would get for them so was wondering if there were any uses for them other that door stops.
Can be destructive..cut and shut home made tilt shift? Cut and reverse part for macro?
Jsut wondering if anyone had any interesting ideas?
Would be a shame not to give someone less fortunate the chance to pick up a lens for a budget price for them to progress their hobby, or perhaps for a young kid to learn with. They may be basic kit lenses to you but upgrades to other people. If you are serious that they could end up as door stops then you are lucky that you don't need the cash as much as others. Why not put them on the market, sell them for whatever you can, and let someone else have some luck. That would be a nice touch.
If someone wanted them, I would be happy to sell them, give them away even, I was given them with a pair of EOS Film cameras an 850 and 1000, I just did nto imagine that anyone would want them.
There are so many old film cameras around now with no doubt spare lenses , did not even consider anyone would want them.
I could do with the money, having splashed out on the MkIII..more than I have ever spent on anything, cars included
I could try and see if there is a local camera club with younger members, if no one has any ideas on creative uses for them

Ever though of donating them to a charity especially a photographic one, google
There are many camera shops in New Jersey that sell used and "outdated" equipment. I'm certain that you could find a shop in your area that does the same. I would sell them or donate them to club/school rather than destroy them. If you really need something for the rifle range, I would suggest an old washing machine or something along those lines. Happy searching.
None iN Jersey though...but I was hoping to do something constructive and creative with them..make a macro lens or Tilt shift or ???
Those are the sort of suggestions I was looking for. I'll edit the title of the topic so I get more suggestions like that without every one having to read my first post to understand what I want
Damn, can't edit the Post topic...
The push-pull Canon EF 70-210 f/4 USM, is not a bad lens and can give very good results, especially stopped down to f/8. It has a ring USM AF motor which is very quick. The 5D III will apply auto-lens distortion / CA correction to the JPG files from this lens as well as the 35-80, which can make them worth using as walk-around lenses.
Don't turn your nose up at them just because they don't have an "L" in the model name.
Not really turning my nose up at them, it is just they are free and spare
I have the 'kit' L series 28 -105 and the L 70-200 f4 so I already have all bases covered with regard to the focal length range these spare lenses cover.
Ok, they could be kept 'as is' and used with the body alone without the battery pack for a less obtrusive look, but to have done something with them was what I was thinking. The Push-pull has a 'macro' section, but it is not really true macro

Does your local college or high school have a photo school?
Possibly, but really more interested in doing something with the lenses myself.

Then keep 'em and use 'em....
For what? I already have far better spec lenses, hence my question
I might be interested in the Canon EF lens the 70-210
