B&H Imposing Religion on Customers
I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm not Jewish, but I do respect that they choose to close on Saturday, instead of the typical Sunday. I've tried on more than one occasion, to order on Saturday. Oops, what's one more day? So, I order on Sunday, or even on Friday when I had intended to order. I have had nothing but positive experiences with B & H...maybe you will discover that at some point in time.
Really!!!!!????? All the huge issues in this world we cannot control and this is an problem to someone?

I just tried to order something from B&H. Their site told me they don't accept online orders till 7PM on Saturday. I understand the reason: they are Jewish and observing their Sabboth. While I agree that in the U.S. they are welcome to do so I am also welcome to not have them impose their religious beliefs on me. So I'll never try to order from them again.
This is just for information. I fully expect everyone in the U.S. to be free to make their own decisions on this type of thing.
I won't have my wife wear a burrkah either.

What a pompous and outrageous thing to say. One assumes from your post that you're not Jewish and your reference to the burrkah would suggest that you're not a Moslem, so the guess would be that you're a Christian.
That being so we take it that you'd be OK with them closing on a Sunday? <also rhetorical>

Careful, did not see anything in his post to suggest he was a Christian. Lots to suggest he was a bigoted idiot.

I was just trying to nail down his opposition and those are (as far as I know) the 3 main religious groups in the USA.
He could just as easily be a Buddist, a Hindu, a Jain or a hundred other faiths. He could be an athiest and object to any closing time, believing the whole world should be at his beck and call 24/7.
Bigoted - Absolutely. Idiotic - Would seem so.
It has all been said here in prior posts but just have to add my 2 cents to reinforce what everyone else has said. I have done business with B&H for over 10 years and spent thousands with them. I have also been in their store. They are as honest and accommodating as any business could possibly be. Their service and sensitivity to their reputation is way way up top on the scale of ethics. They are Jewish people, mostly Hasidics. I am agnostic and would break bread with them any day. You, MtnMan are not a man at all. You are an ignorant, intolerant, bigoted creep. Just what no one of decency or sanity cares to associate with.

I'm pleased to read all of these replies. Happy Sabbath B&H. Welcome to the group robartphoto. I haven't read a post like this before on the UHH.
I suppose we should boycott Chic-fil-A because they close on Sundays. NOT!
A large amount of the photography merchants are also observing Jews. You will get the same response when trying to order on the sabbath. You sound like a true bigot. By the way, Jewish women do not wear Burkas.
Stop judging, none of y'all are qualified. This not why I like UHH.
I still like UHH and B&H and y'all.
Normally, I just move on. But just like all of us sometimes I just can't resist commenting.
So please ignore me too.
Well go to Amazon.com they take orders 24/7.

B&H is a good company. They have always treated me right. I have long accepted tht they are closed on Saturday, and I have always factored that in to my dealings with them. I don't care if they are Jewish, or perhaps one of the Christian denominations that hold their services on Saturday. I will continue to patronize them, nd possibly even more so now that some appear to be holding back.
I have been doing trade with them for 20 years and thing thay have the right to take a day off anytime thay wish .Thay have worked with me treaded me very well better then some outhers
What a stupid post. Gee I can't by beer on Sunday, get over yourself and while your at it try to buy an American camera that stands up to the Nikons and Canons we all use. I quess fair trade doesn't count......... UGGGHH. What ever happen to us all, remember the art!!!

Maybe their computers were being upgraded and wouldn't be back on line until then. Who really cares? It's a private business and they should be allowed to close their doors anytime they want. This is ridiculous!!
I am not really that religious, although I class myself as a Christian. But to be honest I wish all shops would go back to closing on a Sunday here in the UK. I used to think it was great it meant we could shop as a family. But that has crept in to every facet of life, and work never leaves you alone even on a Sunday. I say well done them...
