I just tried to order something from B&H. Their site told me they don't accept online orders till 7PM on Saturday. I understand the reason: they are Jewish and observing their Sabboth. While I agree that in the U.S. they are welcome to do so I am also welcome to not have them impose their religious beliefs on me. So I'll never try to order from them again.

We're you against the Sunday Blue Laws which closed retail stores until just a couple of decades ago?

Why would you think that the position of one post relative another doesn't constantly change?
LOL.... This is an 8 year old post in which MtnMan took a real beating for his OP. Have you folks no mercy?

Point taken, but do you always research a topic, and the history of the poster before replying? You do realize I'm not the one who revived the post?

The date of a topic's creation and the number of pages at the time you view it are easily seen - if you look. No research required for that part; however, I do actually remember this topic from its original posting

The system places comments in date/time order. That date/time is east-coast USA. So while I am writing at 5:30 a.m. PST, the stamp shows 8:30. With a worldwide forum, you'd have quite a mess if all times weren't converted to a single clock.
The only way the position of a posting would change relative to another comment is if Admin or a manager removed a comment.
And this is why the quote reply button is important for exchanges that aren't obviously directed to the opening post: so that people following have a clue who is speaking to whom about what.

My error. The order of the threads is constantly changing, not the order of posts on a thread.

Ah gotcha. Within each specialty forum, the order is based on most recent comment. A new comment bumps a topic to the top of a list.
However, if you use "newest topics" to browse, there is a single list of all your subscribed forums, organized solely by date the original topic is posted (newest first). It is very reliable and easy to use - no accidentally commenting in topics that are seven years old.
The lack of chaos of "newest topics" appeals to me greatly π
This has been their policy since I can remember. I believe Adorama does the same thing. I understand your thoughts but now that your aware of them you can order with that in mind.
I never felt as though they were pushing their religion on me...they are just making it clear to us that is the reason for delays.
I wish you a beautiful day,

I worked for a business that was owned by Orthodox Jews. They closed their business for every holiday both Jewish and Christian. Itβs about respect for their employees.
Did you ever work retail? It should be required for teenagers, for a year.
Methinks it's just inventory and maintenance day.
Family people do stuff on Saturdays. Even if it's just pjs and cocoa, or mall walking. Slack on Saturday!
SUNDAYS get busy. Non church people show up in the morning. Church people show up after noonish.
Monday thru Friday people shop from work. Or before, or after.
That website needs weekly maintenance, also.
Whether or not they're Jewish is irrelevant; it just seems like a good time to get things done.
BTW, Mtnman, they don't go sideways. They don't make that noise siding on the banisters.

This thread has been d**gged up from 2013 and Mtnman appears not to have been here since 2017. The closing he was asking about is for the Jewish holiday of Passover, not for inventory and maintenance.
