Really nice pictures. I always forget that we have to "introduce" non-desert-rats to our beloved plants.

Thanks, APL. But I have to think that the only way to really be introduced is to come down and play catch with a Teddy Bear Cholla!

Very nicely done Chief. Some of the nasty ones can be photogenic, and you've done a wonderful job capturing them.

Thank you, Tony. I'm glad you liked these.

Cool pics. I like the rocks in the last shot, and I think the cactus is trying to say something. Ha.

Thanks! I've always thought that about Saguaro Cactus! Maybe just "Hi"!! From the Cactus Promotion League.

#1 is a Cholla (choya) Cactus. One of the nastiest cactuses in the desert!
#4 foreground is a Prickly Pear. Nasty enough, but candy and jelly can be made from the flower pods. Really good!
I hope you like!

Of course, we like sm01: Beautiful as always, and how you capture these are lovely.

That first one is really neat. It almost doesn't look real, and I wouldn't want to meet it in person!

Each time I look at your work, you transport me to a world that is so different than where I am. I think, however, I want to look and not visit. I'd be a true duck out of water!

Hope you feel better and take care!

Nice set Chief, particularly like #4. Good to see that you're able to get out and about again.

Nice photos of a beautiful desert. And you're right about chollas. Seems like every time I photographed one even from twenty feet away I was picking spines out of my jeans and sleeves for hours. Just looking at your photos I think I have a spine poking through my sock. And prickly pears can be just as bad. I once sideswiped one with my foot and had to pry an entire prickly pear pad away from my running shoe. I actually bled through the fabric. I feel much safer in New Mexico.

Thank you, Barb! I like transporting peeps to someplace new!
Looking from afar is OK. But you miss the best part! Tweezers and a magnifying glass to get those pesky little tag-a-longs out of your skin and clothes when you get back home!

Thank you, Reuss! I think #4 is the winner. Yep, all's good. Up and at 'em again!

Thanks! I was riding a horse with a couple friends in that country many moons ago. We stopped for a water break and I was offering apples to the horses. One of them didn't think I was working fast enough and "nudged" me just a little. I fell backwards and landed on my saddle sores into the middle of a Prickly Pear patch. That was NOT a fun day! But I'm glad it wasn't a Cholla!!!
And, yeah, I feel safer in New Mexico too!
