I have been shooting Nikon cameras since 1971 and have a question about my Nikon Z6ii camera and have been informed that I have to pay a fee to get an answer or any help. This is utterly ridiculous, un acceptable, and SORRY CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!!! Very disappointed in Nikon.

We Shoot Both Canon & Nikon, I am also a member of CPS, they have a free level and several paid levels.
Service has been more than excellent. Nikon has NPS which is free IF you meet all their qualifications, Last I looked one of them required submitting advertising tear sheets from advertising Jobs. If You do, their service is excellent, if you don't you have to have a dealer send the camera in for you and in our experience service was pretty good but VERY slow --weeks without the camera or lens, and there was no way to contact anyone. This was about 4 years ago, things may have changed, but while Nikon was closing many service centers Canon was adding them.

So your experience is awful, but not entirely unexpected. I do not know what Nikon's current policy is, but perhaps you could ask your dealer because you are a long time customer, you own one of their latest cameras, it seems awfully harsh to have to pay to speak to someone
Good Luck

Hello "grandpaw" why not let Mr. CHG_CANNON help you. This is the man with the orange shirt, wharing his glasses above his head. I have been reading his quotes for years and he is very smart and knows a tremendous amount about photograpgy, and he just might know the answer to your question about your Nikon camera. What's to loose,
get an answer by by-passing Nikon and saving a bundle. i sometimes have the same issue with Dell computers.

I just want to mention that I had already in the past ask about my problem with not being able to lock the focus point and did not get any answers that would fix my problem. So after asking here and doing a lot of research on the problem I decided to get in touch with Nikon to see if there was a fix and was told I had to pay for help with my problem. I will add that I also researched disabling the toggle button and that cannot be done either as far as the research I have found states. Im not new to photography or using Nikon cameras. My first Nikon was a Nikon F back in 1971 and I have owned and used several Nikon DSLR cameras, all of which had a button to lock focus on them. It seems to me that either one of these options could be fixed in a software update. Hopefully it will get fixed in the future.

This scenario doesn't make sense unless you had asked to send the camera to them and have them physically disable the toggle switch. You keep trying to put a square peg into a round hole. The Z6 and Z6II do not have the function you desire and they likely won't as they are now ageing tech. Unfortunately, wishing will not make it so. Your only true answer is to upgrade to a Z8 or Z9 which do allow for a locked focus point. Or wait for a Z6III.

Like so many of the dues-paying members of the Chg-Canon FanBoyz Club, when you get that ex-small hat in the mail, you'll know the feeling.

Just to let everyone know that I am smart enough to ask here I have already ask in the past and nobody had the answer so I thought I would give Nikon a try. I have ask here and done a lot of research with no results but I will ask again for those that think I wasn't smart enough to ask here first.

I have a Nikon Z6ii and as far as I can determine there is no way to lock the location of the focus point and I find it very annoying and causing me problems. Before I start getting the same answers that I got last time, I know that I can press the toggle button down and make the focus point go back to the center. I shouldn't have to do that constantly every time I pick up my camera. I use back button focus on all of my cameras and the toggle button is right under th BBF button and it gets pressed every time I pick up my camera and place my thumb on the BBF button which in turn touches the toggle button and it moves my focus point. Last time when I ask here I got all kind of remarks about it not bothering other members or how to double press the toggle to get the focus point back to center. If you have this camera and it doesn't bother you I am happy for you but it is annoying to me. I am not an English scholar so please do not take the time to make remarks about how I wrote or punctuated my post. If you do have helpful information I would very much appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond.

I can lock my focus on any of my DSLR nikons with a lever on the back of the camera. It seems to me this could be fixed with a software update.

Have you tried the company you bought the camera from. If it's B&H I would think their staff would try to help. They are the most service minded company I have ever dealt with.

Yes I also had contacted B&H camera with the same answer. He did take my name and said he would discuss it with the Nikon rep when he comes to the store.
