Amazing at how many photos are being posted here in main photography discussion.
Does it matter anymore where they are posted?
I made a mistake one time and Admin viciously attacked me and threatened to lock me out if I did it again. or something like that.
Just wondering if that rule has been suspended.
Maybe some clearer descriptions in the Home page might help. It should be clear by now what the common misconceptions are.
Many people don't look at the category PICK LIST showing where they will be posting.
Maybe they don't realize it's a drop-down list.
Or can't read instructions:
"To start a new discussion topic on our forum, select the section for your topic and click "Continue":"
They just click Create, hit Continue, upload/write, and Send.
I believe the default is the current/most recent category one is viewing. When one logs in and hasn't viewed anything yet, the initial default is Main Photography Discussion
It doesn't bother me in the slightest as to what category something is posted as I look at the title of the post in newest topics list and decide if I want to open it. I basically pay no attention to what category stuff is located.
Now my feed is filtered by the categories I've selected. I don't review posts by category, just in my feed.
I have posted photos inadvertently in the thread. Admin usually moves them to the appropriate thread.

Occasionally we forget.
I've done it once or twice.

Not reading the first line on the posting page is not a misconception,
it's a miscomprehension.
Maybe it should be in
Red Letters?

There is a simple solution that can work for numerous things...
Programming....
Main forum, no picture and no link. If either is present, change the default forum selection to either gallery or link forum, depending on the case.
The same can be done for the chit-chat section.
I just looked at the rules for the Main Photography section, and I don't see anything about not sharing photos there and to use the Gallery instead.

If it was this page, aren't these the general (global) rules for the
entire forum, all sections? All the other section rules explicitly state about
that section.

https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-1-1.htmlI don't see any other rules under Main Photography. How is anyone supposed to know not to share photos there?

They wouldn't, unless there is a short description that states what each section is used for, as opposed to going to each section to read the individual section rules.

For some reason this is stated in the Photo Gallery rules. It would be a good idea for it to also included in Main Photography as well.
From Photo Gallery rules:
“This section is for posting pictures you took. If you want to ask others to comment on your choice of subjects, composition, settings, show off your pictures to others, or ask for general critique, then please do so in the Photo Gallery section.
But if you need help with a specific issue, then please post in the Photo Analysis section.
(By contrast, the Main section is meant for discussions. Sometimes pictures are appropriate in the Main section, but mainly when used to illustrate a point or help the discussion….”

When the All Sections link is used, under each section title is a short description.
