New or used. I purchased a Z6I in like new condition and love it. The Z 6II dual processors and 2 card slots would be even better.

The Z6ii camera is perhaps the best all around mirrorless camera Nikon currently has to offer. It has all the sensor resolution most people need to produce high quality imaging, capable of prints up to 11”x14”. If you shoot bird images, you will need to shoot in dx mode which will give an effective field of vision of 1-1/2 the times of the used lens. If most of your shops will be birds, you may want to consider a crop sensor camera such as the Z50.
For general imaging, the Z6ii is your best bet, and will likely hold its value as it is very popular with enthusiasts as well as some professionals. Great choice for a camera!

Love mine.
Does what I need (and want) at 24.5MP — and does it all well.
For those reasons, I consider it well worth the price I paid for it.
(Plus, I've owned only Nikon gear since 1975, so there's that.)

What are you considering replacing with this camera? What lenses are you currently using and would you want to continue to use them on this camera? Many people on UHH have commented on the high quality and versatility of this camera or have suggested alternatives. I don't think that these things are issues. I don't think that you would regret buying one. You will need the FTZ adaptor if you want to continue to use F mount lenses, and you may want to replace any screw drive lenses that you have, if you do have any. They won't autofocus on the Z cameras.

I have a Z6 and love it. I also have a D750 and love it, too. It I could keep only one, it would be the Z6. The only reason to get rid of my Z6 would be to upgrade to the Z7ii.

I say go for what makes you happy, Ron. If you feel like you want one and can afford it, why not?

Ron, I tend to buy my cameras when they are released only to find out a few months later that a new version has been released. I bought the Nikon Z6 and sure enough, about two months later the Z6II was released with its value-added features.

I enjoy the Z6 and it does all I could ever ask. I am confident that you would enjoy owning a Z6II even more.

You may wish to hold off for a bit as Nikon appears to be on the verge of releasing the Z6iii.

Good advice. Intro of the mkIII should noticeably reduce the price of the mkII.

I have a Z 6II and am quite happy with it. I use it with the Z 28mm and Z 40mm lenses for Documentary, Street and Environmental photography, and with the Z 24-120mm lens or the Z 24-200mm for Travel and GP.

I have a Z6 and I do not lose a minute's sleep because I'm one generation behind....... Writing advertising copy for "new models" of something is a great way to help make more $$$ for the seller but having been there, done that, I'm happy to let my camera continue to work..... and I don't tell it that it's obsolete. (I still also use my 1946 Leica 35mm and Nikon various 35mm machines LOL) so in the end, no reason to just spend more money.

I don’t love mine. As many here and on other sites have mentioned, it misses focus too often. If purchasing again, I would probably go Sony or Canon. Just my honest opinion.

I bought the Z7ii because of the 45.7mp. I love it! Great detail in photos. I ordered the FTZ2 so I could use my F mount lens. I didn’t buy the z6ii, due to the lower MP.

I use my Z6 II + Z 24-120mm f/4 S just about everyday, indoors and outdoors. I nearly always crop during PP and am satisfied with its resolution. My only advice is if buying Z lenses, buy only the S versions. My eyes and brain see a difference in color and sharpness.
