Yep, it's possible! I was stationed on Guam, then the Philippines, and back to Guam. Spent an awful lot of time on aircraft carriers during that period. Pulling in to Hong Kong two or three times a year.
Did you ever make it to Taiwan? I was in Taipei and Tainan a number of times. Usually just a remain over night (RON) in small aircraft for fuel and crew rest on our way to somewhere else. But spent more time (a day or two) on occasion. Very interesting time and places.
Interesting life story, Chief! Yes, I have been to Taiwan multiple times, worked there twice for about 3-4 weeks each, actually spent my first Christmas in Asia in Taipei at the manager's house, that was in 1968. Worked there also in 1970, then visited Taiwan (Taipei, Yehliu, Sun Moon Lake and Tarokko Gorge) with Susan in 1980 and actually I went back by myself in November 2019 on a trip around the entire island - I always enjoyed Taiwan.
