Don't know what it is about this photo....

I think I figured it out. On the left side about 20% from the top in the water there is a black shadow stick out a little bit and it looks like there are 2 eyes looking back at you. If you look close enough you get the feeling that there is a face in there staring back at you.

I understand exactly why you like the image. I like it also. As others have said, it is very calming. There may be some technical difficulties, but I think most of the most important ones can be resolved. I think this is an important image that perhaps you should work on a little bit to make it perfect. If there is such a thing as a perfect photo.

The grass exhibits a lot of chromatic aberration, aka purple fringing.

The colorspace is uncalibrated.

The UHH Photo Critique Section would be a more logical section to post your question: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/s-117-1.html

Could be a <delete> candidate? If not simply deleted, look at addressing the technical issues above. Consider too, cropping more toward an 16:10 aspect, taking image content off the top in a way that moves the 'middle' grass higher into the frame.

I did not see a question mark in the OP's post, or in the title of the post. Also I don't think he mentioned wanting critique and/or comments. The photo was posted with a comment that he did not know why he was drawn to the photo, he likes it. Why start out with negative comments and criticism. If you don't like it, say so and move on.

Good catch, looks somewhat like a cat face to me. Intriguing.

Why not some constructive helpful criticism regarding some of the fundamentals from a fellow photographer on a Photography Forum??
Ignorance should not be bliss --
A good photo that would have received higher praise if only it had been shot correctly

I also say "Moody Elegance" is a perfect name and I also find it quite calming. Some people find things to do to improve on it, if that's what you want. I like it just the way it is. But then again some people see the photos and want to try to improve on them while some of us see things as they are. Your Choice.

I am enjoying the discourse. Especially since that was my intent. Much preferred instead of the usual "great shot" or other nebulas dribble.
Unfortunately that shot was taken as a jpeg and on a crappy lens hence the technical flaws.
The point was conjured here

By the way, The Canon EOS-3 purchased in 1999 came with an eye control focus feature --
Which I hardly ever used -- Who knows Canon may have stolen it from Sony

There is something very appealing to this image for me. It's quite simple, doesn't jump out at the viewer necessarily. The critique is spot on when dealing with components that are flawed and I too appreciate constructive criticisms offered up to me on UHH by those who will always exceed my abilities in photography. My files contain a number of images that are not technically sound, especially the older ones from a JPEG shooting camera and a lack of PP knowledge before taking photography seriously enough to care about processing. I say there must be a good reason the delete function wasn't executed before and if you're happy with it, that's all that really matters, in my humble opinion! Paul has been very helpful to me about the ins and outs of photography and processing. I was glad to read your thoughts about his spot on critiques and how to improve shots. Fun post by the way!

And it works perfectly! Kinda angry they discontinued it. But I'm not trying to hijack the thread.

I like it. No analysis or critique needed.

It would make a good print to hang in a bathroom or foyer/waiting room. It has a calming effect on me.
