The thing that bugs me about the so-called 3D images that are posted on UHH is that they are not true 3D. It is impossible to produce a 3D image from a 2D image by simply cranking it through some software. The are only poor simulations. The only way to produce a true 3D image is to photograph two images that are slightly offset from one another and display them so that each eye sees only one of the images through polarizing filters or a stereoscope. Maybe I'm picky because my father was a pioneer in the early days of 3D cinematography.

Now we need the use of adjectives to properly describe stuff?
Fake
contrived
simulated
actual
apparent
manipulated....
Sub-grouping and splitting hairs.
The overall effect is that it
looks 3-D.....

I use my Viewmaster.
A Viewmaster is one form of a stereoscope.
Have done 3D since the 50ies and still do some today digitally. Conceptual art form but few today want to spend the time or money. The club in Mass. that I belonged to disbanded years ago but some members like me hang on. Cheers.
I agree. I've commented on that issue, too.
