Having sold glass to operations of this type, don't hold your breath on getting the first estimate of value. Once they get it, they put it through a full body-cavity search inspection and any imperfection works against you and the price drops. Their big bug-a-boo is fungus which can be almost invisible but they can find it.

They did that to me, just today. I had sent in my Sigma 17-50 f2.8 as a trade-in towards a Nikkor 17-55 f2.8. The site told me what they would give me for it which, although about a third of what I paid for it, originally, seemed fair enough. BUT… this morning, I got an e-mail from them that there was an "adjustment" in their quote. It was only for $10.00 LESS, but I asked the reason why. The response was that their techs found "heavy dust" inside the lens. I thought this was odd, as I had recently dropped off my camera for a cleaning and was told that the cleaning fee included cleaning the lens, as well. That shop didn't tell me anything about dust. Well, it was only $10.00 and not worth whining about.

That’s what they hope for. You saying $10 is not whining about.
You got screwed!

Normally, I'd agree with you. But KEH would have only offered about two dollars more. Anyway, it's done.

By the way, checked UsedPhotoPro, which is Robert's Camera. Their quote for the Sigma lens would have been anywhere from $9.00 less to only $3.00 more than what MPB is giving me. So, no, I do NOT feel "screwed". They're paying what the others would pay for the same item.

I'm headed to my local camera store tomorrow afternoon to see what price I can get on my D850 with grip and D5 battery with about 3,000 clicks. Also my D3S with about 27,000 clicks. I called and they say they are in the market for DSLR camera gear because most people are not ready to go into mirrorless price range at this time. I will also see what trade-in I can get for about 10 lens. This may be easier than all the selling.

Try the used departments at B &H and Adorama, send them a list of equipment and they will give you a guote based on your evaluation of condition. They will pay for shipping. I have been working with B&H for years. Generally, they pay you about 50%of what they expect to sell it for. This is hassle free and takes about four days to get the check by FedEx.

Have used them a number of times in the UK for both buying and selling, have always been very pleased with their service and their pricing is very fair for both buying and selling

Although it might be easier, you probably will get far less than trying to sell them here or on eBay.
Remember, they are buying them to resell and need to make a profit.
Selling them yourself, that profit will be in YOUR pocket.
I have sold several items on here rather quickly and painless.

Perhaps ‘painless’ to you. I’ll typically sell to Robert’s organization. The ‘loss’ of money means I don’t have to think about packing, shipping, and dealing with a customer who doesn’t agree with my evaluation.

I have sold at least 5 or more camera related items on here and fortunately they have been “painless” for me with more money in my pocket.
I always provide many closeup photos of the product so there has never been a disagreement of my evaluation.
Happy New Year!
