Their store used to be in Edison NJ, around 15 minutes from where I live. I believe their current location is in Linden NJ, a bit farther away from me.

Gosh, their website says:
"Since 1979, the Abe's of Maine business has been known as one of the most honest and reliable photo and electronic retailers."
How can so many Hoggers be wrong?
I purchased a Canon Rebel from them about 15 years ago.
I sent them a credit card number, they charged me for what I ordered {and no more}.
They sent the camera to me. Very routine.
These days I purchase from B&H. {I didn’t know about them then}

Bought a Fujifilm xt5 and had a couple of issues with it, mostly a focus problem I bought this from Abes and after 2 e-mails I contacted them by phone and explained the problems, was told I would be contacted by a tech. So far 3 days and no contact from them. Poor customer service. Anyone else have issues with this company?
Sorry my friend: unfortunately, Abes of Maine has the worst reputation of any of the cameras/photo equipment resellers in this Country of ours. Don't expect anything but headaches from them. If they told you a tech will contact you, you better cover your Fujifilm xt5 with a good wrapping paper, so it won't collect dust throughout the incoming years of wait.

I wonder if experiences are different if shopping there in person. Never bought from them online, never will. As there are WAY too many bad experiences. But I do wonder if you can come through the door and, ahem, "get their attention" if it would be any better.
There have been folks here who did that and said that they were upcharged on everything - "oh - you want a lens cap with that lens"?

With all the bad reviews I have read about Abe’s in the last few years I am amazed that they are still in business. Don’t wait, contact your credit card company now. I have had such good service from BH that they are my choice for all big purchases. When you are making any kind of big purchase, always google reviews.
Oh my. Frustration to the max.
Friends don't let friends shop Abe's.

What a shame. But one can guess how much business they have lost due to practices like that. As evidenced here on UHH, word of mouth travels far and wide!

For most of us, the answer will be no because no one familiar with Abe's of Maine buys from them!
Unfortunately, Abe's of Maine is a joke around here. A bad joke.
When Abe's was actually in Maine, it was a very good store. Then it was sold - along with the name. The new owners ran it downhill. That's why I think the name should not be sold with the business. Buy the store, buy the inventory, but make up your own name.

Notice you've been a member here since 2017. Haven't you seen the dozens of notes re Abe's?
I wonder how long it will be until Abe’s has burned so many buyers they won’t have any more sales and they have to close their doors.

Call Abe's for an RMA. Confirm request with an email the describes the problem. If no response in a few days, send another email that you are returning the defective item and insist on full credit. Keep copies of everything. Alert your credit card company and dispute the charge. At the end of the day Abe's will most likely claim the item was not defective and credit you less 10% restocking and all shipping and handling.

Their Maine store was huge - on Route 1 - and the salespeople were very knowledgeable. I stopped in the buy a battery for a big, old camcorder. The salesman gave me the battery and then he showed me an 8mm camcorder. It weighed less than the battery. I was sold.
Unfortunately, Abe's is a case of people buying and selling the name just to wring every last cent out of it.

Probably not for a long time. As they say there's a sucker born every minute
