Hi. I want referring to the posts that people put up regarding camera stores and legitimate businesses. I was referring to the come-on ads such as the one below about unknown social security benefits for seniors and others stating secret ways for seniors to double their retirement income, etc. They list some dubious-sounding individual, rather than a legitimate source. Just saying..... be careful; there are many scammers who know that camera buffs have money.

The advertising you see is specific to you and your online activity. I was shopping on Under Armour this morning, all I see now is ads for shoes and clothes. If concerned about the advertising tracking, investigate an ad-blocker plug-in to your browser, or software that removes tracking cookies. These are ideas under your control, including choosing to no longer use the no-fee / advertising-supported UHH site.

If you buy from Abe’s enough you’ll get taken, truly taken.

A good price will bring people in, but good service will bring them back in. More companies would do well to remember that.

I've used B&H and Adorama for years, several cameras plus a lot of "support" items (batteries, battery chargers, camera cases, etc., and in the ancient days, film). Never had a problem. I look at both, compare prices and shipping, in stock, etc. Have used Adorama print service for a number of metal prints, very pleased with results.

The only problem I ever had was my own fault: bought an FZ300 for a foreign friend just before Christmas and was traveling soon after for 2 months out of the country. Tried the camera, noticed a small glitch when turning on, but didn't always repeat. Rather than returning for a replacement as I didn't think would arrive in time, I hoped for the best. Thankfully, the camera totally failed while I was there. Brought it back to the US, sent to Panasonic repair under warranty. Repaired with no questions, and returned to friend 6 months later on next trip. Has worked flawlessly for the last 4 years and sometimes she takes better pictures than me.

Lesson learned: on ANY glitch, return. In hindsight, I should have returned as defective for refund and just ordered another, explaining situation to company.

I have no qualms about using either company.

When I buy stuff I frequently use MSN's incognito browser so that the places I visit cannot keep info unless I specifically allow them to do so. That prevents stores and MSN from badgering me when I look on the next time.

I have used Adorama for many years. About a year ago I bought a guitelele from them. (small travel guitar). It was supposed to have a case that came with it as advertised in Adorama's ad. I never received the case. They claimed the ad was a mistake. They offered me a small amount off my purchase for the missing case. Not an amount I could have even bought a cardboard case with. They were not nice about it either. Two months after I talked with them the false ad was still up on their site. I have purchased photo equipment from them and never had a problem but I won't use them any longer. Not while B&H is still around.

You must be joking. Every thing I heard about Abe’s scares me.

I live in Brooklyn, about 15 miles away. Both ADORAMA and B&H are great stores and are far above the rest.
I have no complains about either.

What ever I need and my wife prohibits me from buying they usually have. I have never gone wrong.

Whatever it is that your wife prohibits you from buying you probably don't need Scruples.
At least that's the way it is in my house

My wife of 34 years is extremely frugal. She will always save for a rainy day. As for me, I’ll make do with a broken umbrella. I’m more of an impulse buyer. I probably don’t need it anyway. Besides, we have one child who finished college with a PhD and our other child with a Masters. We will be going on a long planned vacation next year.

I have used both ADORAMA and B&H. Both are reputable and it’s hard to find fault with either. With ADORAMA, I had a broken battery grip and they replaced it with a brand new one. They just switched it out -no charge. With B&H I was able to get a lens without breaking the bank, it too was switched out.

I'm so glad to hear that. I just had a discussion with friend on hie very subject. You raise your kids, give them a good education and set them out on their own. It's now your time. Hope your vacation turns out to be a long and enjoyable one.

I deal with B&H. Am I wrong or did B&H buy out Adorama ?

It's ADORAMA, and I've bought lots of gear from them over the years and never had a problem. I use them for all of my printing; price, quality, and service are excellent.
