I always love shots of the P-51 Mustang. My dad flew those in WWII.
Thank you cwp3420! The P-51 Mustang was great plane! They frequently escorted both the B-24 and B-17 heavy bombers in WWII. My dad flew in a B-24 as a Navigator in WWII with the US Army 15th Air Force 449th Bomb Group which operated out of Grottaglie, Italy. My father and all of the bomber crews greatly appreciated those fighter escorts!

I've seen pics that show the "cartridge & casing" from the gun which looks about like a typical 30-06 except for one thing... each one is half again the size of a 12-ounce beer bottle, and it fires them at the rate of around 4,000 rounds per minute. You can also search for the pic of a VW Beetle sitting next to the gun assembly, so it truly is way bigger than a car. The "Thunderbolt" probably comes from the fact that the projectile arrives ahead of the sound of the gun, so the MIG pilot probably never heard a thing.

Thank you Ron!
I was shooting handheld with a Fujifilm X-T2 APS-C crop frame mirrorless camera body with a 100-400mm zoom lens (150-600mm on this body), continuous burst mode of 3 FPS, Continuous Auto Focus=Set 1 (Multipurpose), Film Simulation =Velvia, and Auto Focus Mode=ALL.
I had sunny conditions with constant lighting so I was shooting in Manual Mode, ISO=200, f/5.6, 1/2000 sec, and Daylight WB,
(If I had variable lighting conditions I would have used Shutter Priority Mode, 1/2000 sec, Auto ISO, Auto WB, and EC=+0.3).
To blur the propellers on prop aircraft I shot at ISO=200, f/11, 1/250 sec.
Have fun at the airshow!
